The service manager going to drive it , I've known him for along time, but the first person to duplicate and agree with me that it's not normal was a technician. The service manager the one that has taking over after 3 attempt's and is the one who hasn't been able to duplicate at least not to the severity he wants. I think any shake is unacceptable.

    Thanks J

I agree that it is unacceptable. Tell him to drive a Tundra and see they do not shake at all. This is a design problem on the Tacoma that Toyota does not want to admit.

This is an interesting read. My new 13 DCLB also shakes pretty bad starting at 60mph. It's irritating to say the least on a new truck that cost so much. Thing is though I dint notice it until I swapped wheels. Mine is a TRD Sport and I traded off the bright alum Sport wheels for a new set of grey Texas Edition wheels, I've noticed the shake since then, so I assume it's a balance issue with me. Mine also has the factory tires you mentioned though...?...

    Hi Guys,

Its been a year that my 2012 Tacoma dcab sport has been shaking of and on, I just recently left it with Toyota of Escondido for a week. They found 2 of the Dunlops Grandtrek AT20 defective by putting the them on a road force machine
and replaced them . I now have a totally smooth running Tacoma, after all there attempts they must not have been doing it correctly or they would have found this out along time ago.

If I had to give any advice be persisted and make sure they are using a road force balancer, correct adapter and someone who knows what they are doing.

I wish all the best of luck with this.

    Jon

I also have a 2013 double cab sport with the intermittent steering wheel shake between 60-75. Had new tires put on and road forced balanced 3 times and it still does it. Dealer told me they have had the same problem with the FJ . So i have to take it in and they said they would get a rep from toyota to come out and see what they can do.

If it were mine and i just bought it, I'd make the dealer give me a different truck. May be a taste of things to come.

I've got 10k on 2015 Tacoma Sport. It shakes on dirt road washboard bad. Dealership is acting like they have never heard of the problem. And as far as my particular problem getting diagnosed as out of balance tires & alignment: I should be able to drive with a flat tire and not experience steering shake.

Take it back to the dealer!Quite odd for a new truck to have what i think is a alignment/tire balance issue.
