WTF is a "slap on" disc brake pad?
For that matter WTF is a "Bolt on" disc brake pad?

There are two basic types of Calipers: Floating Caliper and Fixed Caliper. The Fixed Caliper is what you have on the Tacoma.

On neither type are the pads "Slapped" on or "Bolted" on. They are basically held by the Calipers with pins or clips or a combination of the two, (with two pins on the Tacoma ).

To replace the brake pads on the Tacoma:

    Jack up the truck
    Remove the tire
Remove the retainer pins and old pads
Press pistons back into the caliper
Insert new pads and reinstall the retainer pins.
    Reinstall tire
    Jack the truck back down.

    Repeat for the other side.
