Now that I read that I am glad that I only run TPMS on the stock rims/tires that came with the truck in the summer time.

Shrug. If the OP doesn't check his air pressure with TPMS, he's probably not going to check it without TPMS.

TPMS is a useful safety tool for dangerously low pressures, but often times the light doesn't trigger until a tire has lost enough air to become just that: Dangerous. I used to see people come in all the time because "the light just turned on this morning" and they had 20-25PSI in a car that's supposed to have 30-35. Their tires were worn down on the shoulders because they'd been running low PSI for months, and it just finally dropped low enough to trigger the light.

While I agree that checking your pressures once a month is easy, it doesn't mean that people will do it. Using your turn signal's easy too...

    Yup.

TPMS triggers when ONE tire is 10psi below the highest, or when any tire drops below the programmed threshold.

To get back on topic, the design of the TPMS (I'm not familiar with the ones on the Toyotas) will determine if just the valve stem portion can be replaced. The wife's Dodge had one break and it was repaired without the need for a new sensor.

The shop threw anti-seize compound on the stems to protect them.

If you broke the stem you need a new sensor the Toyota stems are not replaceable.

With the Toyota the new sensor ID will have to be written in through the OBDII port to install a new sensor.

You can replace the sensor with a new OE unit from Toyota or get the same sensor through Dill part number 1204 or 1204A.

Second option is to find a shop that sells the Schrader EZ sensor they can clone your old sensor no relearn needed. The EZ sensor PN for our trucks is 33000. The EZ sensor has the new style rubber TPMS snap in stem. If you break it new ones are about $5 bucks.
