I've been looking to mount this Jerry Can in my bed. I didn't want to have to unlock and remove the can from the mount in order to gain access to the storage compartment behind it so I welded some hinges on the bottom of the mounting pan and used some lynch pins to allow it to tilt away when they are removed. In actuality, it's not really that big of a hassle to unlock the can and pull it, the low height of the pan easily allows access to the bin when the can is removed, but what the hell. Here are some pics.

The cargo net in this pic looks kind of confusing, but it' s not part of the mount. You can see the rear lynch pin here. There is one in the front as well.

The lynch pin mounts are made from a sawn up hinge. One side is welded to the pan. The other is bolted through the bed with stainless 1/4 flat head machine bolts

It's still secured to the bed with the pins removed and locked in the mount.

I used galvanized heavy duty hinges with brass pins from Home Depot. They are painted black. Welding removes some of the galvanization.

I might throw some more stainless bolts in, but it seems solid as it is.

Looks good to me, buddy! Nice and tidy tucked away, and being able to get to the storage is awesome. Good thinking!
