I noticed my compass was starting to get out of magnetic alignment. I checked the VAR setting and it was set incorrectly. So I changed the value to 12, which according to the manual is the correct setting for New England. I then put it into CAL mode and drove around per the manual but no matter how many times I drive in a circle it just stays on CAL N. Has anyone run into this before? I've tried changing the VAR back to what it was originally but no matter what value I use or how many circles I do it just won't stop saying CAL N.

So I replaced the compass with a brand new one from Toyota and same problem. For the life of me I cannot get a compass to calibrate inside my truck.

    Nope,
I gave up after weeks of trying every possible thing I could think of. Replaced basically every component, including the thermo sensor just in case. Ended up just putting back the plan old overhead console in.

to calibrate it you have to drive your truck around in a circle.
that's what fixed mine anyway... find a parking lot and do some slow donuts

just in first gear, a little faster then idle.
you have to go into the compass menu and it gives you instructions on when to do it.

Hey, having the same issue. Drove around many times. No go. Does the compass tell you when to start driving?

Hey guys, I'm having the same problem. It just won't get out of Cal N no matter how many times I drive in circles.

Still a known issue? Having these problems myself and hoping I don’t have to buy a new one just to experience the same thing :/

    Hmm . . . none as yet, that's why i'm here . . .
It’s cause your stuck in a time warp you need to drive 100 miles south 50 miles east 50 miles west then 100 miles north
Come back to TW and ask the same question
