I really hate this forum...:D Every time I check in I learn something new and it inevitably costs me some cash. 2014 DCLB with TRD Sport Extra Value Package and no auto dimming mirror. I'm disappointed as my 2009 Camry Hybrid has the auto dimming/compass mirror and now I need one for my Tacoma! I sent a PM to Bob and will await his reply.

Hey guys I just recently purchase a 14 Double Cab TRD Sport Taco. Of course no auto dimming mirror/outside temp gauge. I spoke to my dealer and they said contact Toyota Corporate. I did that and the best Toyota offered me was $500.00 in accessories. I just brought up that the brochure says the truck has it though mine does not. $695 quote from the dealer to install one, no thank you! Those that purchased a 14 and want some compensation call Toyota Corporate ASAP! lol Enjoy

I had a 2011 Tacoma DC that had the temp- compass in frame above the mirror ,a 2013 Tacoma DC with the temp-compass in the mirror ,then my 2014 Tacoma DC had the $10 special mirror with the compass on the Nav screen if you have the Nav pkg.and the Temp. on the Weather Channel if you have a signal ; it gives the temp.from as of now to 90 minutes ago , real helpful.
I read the posts and ordered a mirror from Bob's Mirrors and am really happy with it. Then I decided to call Corporate and express dissatisfaction about the cheap mirror and to give them a couple of suggestions on how to improve the Tacoma. After a good discussion ,the Toyota representative offered me a credit for 1000.00 to be used on future Toyota purchases (parts ,services ,accessories). I just fax the paid invoice to them and they send me a check and there is no time limit on the credit.
I think that Toyota has gotten the message about the temp-compass -mirror mistake and changes will probably come. I was pleased with the adjustment and will continue to be a Toyota customer.

Has everyone emailed/called Toyota Headquarters in California? The only response I got was a $200 credit on any dealer purchased item or service and mail receipt to head office. The 2014 I have has Weather App that is crApp.

I just got off the phone with Toyota and was told that none of the 2014 Tacoma's with TRD Offroad Sport package had the rear view mirror with the temp gauge option installed.

Ditto, although I was offered a free year of Sirius first. When I balked at that, she offered the $200 which I put towards a roof rack. But being in the North, I think it is gross oversight and a safety issue. Very disappointing that Toyota cut corners on a standard piece of equipment in almost every other car on the road.

Another item that I was disappointed not getting is the fuel consumption readout. Being a truck, we obviously don't care too much about MPG, but the Range/MilesToEmpty is another feature that should be a given, especially in an off-road capable vehicle. It seems like an easy feature to include that should have been a standard piece of the fancy dash display, and which is in like every other Toyota vehicle???

Does anyone here even know if it is possible to hook the homelink mirror up to our trucks (2014) and have them work properly? I looked at the wiring in my over head storage and there is a plug there, however it does not even have what is needed to work the temp function...

Access Original Tonneau Cover; Toyota Side Tube Steps; Focal ISS690 front speakers; Clarion XC1410 mini amp; Gentex 453 rearview mirror with Homelink, Compass, Temp and Autodim; Prodigy P2 trailer brake controller, Heated Seats from www.cobraheat.com, BriteAss Fogs, Phillips Extreme LED H/L. Heated mirrors from @Up2NoGood. 5100 Bilstein all four corners.
I put a new Homelink/Temp/Compass/Autodim mirror in mine and the Homelink works just fine. If you don't want the Temp part (you have to run wire and install the sender) you just plug in your new mirror. Just have to let Bob know what you want.

There is a big difference between the mirror bob sells (gentex) vs the one that came on these trucks factory.

With bobs mirror you can run a temp sensor and wires to have the temp function on the gentex mirror, however on the factory ones it has to be pulled from the ac module... leaving you tapping into this system. From what I read guys couldn't get it to work on earlier truck ie: 2009-2011 and I just dont know if any one has tried this particular mirror on a 2014 and had success.

    More than I can afford
I have a 2010 X-Runner with the auto dim and backup camera monitor.

Would love to add the temp, compass and homelink (my truck has the little garage door opener compartment in the overhead in place of the temp/compass, this solution doesn't work well as I have a gate and a garage door to contend with).
What P/N mirror do I need and would it be "plug and play"?

Amen to that. I just got my new '14 Tacoma and I'm astounded at the lack of an outside temperature gauge (my 20 year old Dodge had that) and the fuel consumption info in the (more or less useless) display. Arrrgh!

Who is "Bob" and where do I get a fancy mirror? I'd like to hook up the outside temp gauge to it...

I got a Homelink, compass/temp mirror from Bob and installed it it a matter of a half hour. The Homelink feature and compass are plug and play using the harness inside the overhead console. Temp requires the most effort and only requires running the probe to the inside of the front grill.Spend a minute looking thru this thread and your questions will all be answered, and you will find Bob's PM info as well as his E-mail address.

Mine works fine as well. I bought the Gentex from another distributor. Just had to run the temp probe wire. Everything works like a charm.

I have the 2014 TRD OR. No auto dimming RV. I questioned my dealer and was told like many forum members it is not in the package. I have the latest 2014 brochure and the only package that has the Auto dimming RV with temp display is the Limited. I guess it will be after market for me.
