I just bought a 2014 Tacoma TRD Sport this week and it has the old fashion flip RV mirror also. I will be calling the dealer tomorrow to find out what the deal is also.

Following this thread. Anyone actually get some sort of response from the dealer on this matter?

I pushed it and inquired quite a bit. Dealer went to regional manager for answers, and the only response i've really got is basically "your 2014 doesn't come with auto dimming mirror".

What's the name of the regional sales manager? Maybe we should all start calling them directly.

You guys really don't have much to stand on unless the mirror was listed on your window sticker. Just because it says something in a brochure, does not mean you are 100% entitled to it. You should've worked an upgraded mirror in your purchase deal. I've done that on previous vehicles.

Yeah, I have realized this. Beyond emailing a few times to try to get an answer, I haven't lost any sleep over this. It's not worth it, especially since its clearly just a mistake in the brochure. I don't feel cheated out of a mirror.

The dealer didn't provide the Monroney sticker. I didn't realize it was absent until researching the mirror issue. I contacted the dealer to get the sticker. From what I have read, it must be removed by the owner.

I am not loosing any sleep over it, but for those who ordered the truck rather than buying it on the lot it kind of sucks.

Still waiting for a response from Toyota Corporate.

Every single 2014 I've looked at has the temp sensor mounted in the grill yet nothing on the interior to display this information. My understanding is the Entune system will display weather information, but only when in HD radio coverage.

I'm not sure if this is correct but this is what Toyota told me regarding the mirror. They said the auto dimming mirror is only available in the limited package for 2014 despite the brochure stating otherwise. They also threw the disclaimer at me. Has anyone bought a limited 2014 yet? If so a pic of the mirror would be very helpful and it would be nice to find out if it could be purchased to install in the TRD's? Sounds like the plug is in the header and the temp sensors are still on the TRD's so it just seems really cheap and silly of Toyota in my opinion to not put the Auto Dim in the TRD's like the limiteds??

Keeping my fingers crossed that the wire to plug into the mirror (for temperature and power for auto dim) is installed in the 2014s. Did this with a Volvo- bought a Gentex mirror for it, found the wire with connector taped in the header, plugged it in and it worked just like factory installed. Gentex makes the auto dimming mirrors for most auto manufacturers and also now own Homelink.

So the 2014 costs about $100 more than the 2013, but looses the auto-dimming mirror with Homelink feature/temp gauge. Terrible

i recall the pamplhet for the 2012 said something about a power driver's seat. of course, there is no power driver's seat. i think Toyota was messing with the idea and then scrapped it but did not get the word out before the booklet was printed.

haha, if you guys can get corporate to give you a dimming mirror with compass maybe i'll go back and ask for a power driver's seat. i'm kidding, this will not happen.

I saw a Limited at the dealer yesterday, and it had the auto-dimming mirror.

No one should really be surprised that they are using the disclaimer. Then it also comes down to the customers doing their homework as well. If you are able to get an aftermarket mirror and get the auto-dimming then that's awesome. The chances of getting anything out of Toyota for not having it is zero.

I personally don't use Homelink. The auto-dimming is something I wouldn't miss if I didn't have it. Just having the flip under the mirror is just good enough for me, kind of wish that's all they did. It's nice having the temperature in the mirror though. In the end I love my truck either way.

Since the 2014 TRDs don't have the auto dimming mirror, is there still a compass / outside temperature readout somewhere? I don't see it in mine

Actually I take that back. I was not able to get the heated seats. They come on the Limited. I wasn't going to pay for the Limited package for just the heated seats and chrome.
