HELP Ign. key replacement ?

I have lost my spare key to my 08 Prerunner, drove 70 miles to dealer , had my build sheet and my key that I use every day, service adviser told me it would be 2 days before they would able to cut me one, plus $150.00 in advance, is this a normal charge ? I didn't know it was made of gold or I would have put it in the bank !

 

No other dealers in the area? The 2 days is not surprising. $150 sounds pretty steep even for a chipped key.

Call around a few different dealers and see if you can work something out by mail.

 

You think that's expensive? It's more here in Canada.

 

Walmart cut me a new chipped key for my 07 for $57

 

or find a good locksmith place

 

I had a key smith get me a key and programed it for $80

 

I did not know Walmart could cut chipped keys, also there is a locksmith in town so I'll try him also ! Many thanks, milo
