    Hey everyone,

Looking for opinions on trading my current 2011 TRD O/R access cab for a 2011 4runner trail edition. I notice that I'm not using the bed nearly as much as I thought I would and I find myself wanting more covered space for the gear that I transport. I prefer a 4wd vehicle to deal with snow and for getting up on some trails. I also felt that the 4 runner gave a more comfortable ride due to the heavier sway bars used in the KDSS system.

Any thoughts to sway me one way or the other?

    Thanks in advance!

    Too few to list.
Sounds like you've made up your mind. I don't think you'd be dissapointed with the 4Runner. We have one and I like them both as well though I'm keeping my truck. I guess it will all depend on your budget? Best time to get the trail edition.

If you have no need for the bed of your truck I would go for the 4runner if you feel that will better serve your needs. My first toyota was a 1997 4runner and I loved it but with a couple of big dogs I found the bed of the truck with a cap was a great option for me. I love my Taco but at some point when I don't have a need for the bed anymore I will definitely own another 4runner!

Can't go wrong with a trail teams runner. If you have the $ and don't use the bed its a win/win.

I've had two tacos but I got rid of the second for a 4runner after realizing I wasn't using the bed, no regrets

If you don't need the bed, this is a no-brainer. 4Runner.

If you are doing an even trade then yea it sounds like a good deal. You probably already made up your mind listing all the pros you wanted.

    Thanks for all the replies!
I am going to end up spending around $10k if I trade, which seems to make sense since that's about the difference between msrp's of both vehicles new. Can't say my mind is completely made up but I'm about 80% there.

Why not just get a topper and have covered cargo capacity? I hunt and find that I really don't want to put bleeding deer in the back of my 4Runner, so I have the Taco for that.

Had a 2011 SR5 4runner. If I were to do it again, Trail is the only way to go. The ride on the SR5 is very mushy.

This! I had a V8 2006 4wd 4Runner. I loved it, but missed my bed. I now have a 2012 DCSB and I added a matching topper. Best of both worlds to me. Add a Bed rug and you're set! I do miss my V8, but the 6cyl does most of what I truly need. Keep in mind, they stopped putting the V8 in 4Runners at the end of the 4th gens which was 2009 I believe.

I think the topper is definitely a good alternative, worth looking into. Not looking for a V8, the V6 has plenty of power for me right now, and I don't tow anything on a regular basis.

Are you sure the 4runner has the KDSS system? If I remember correctly it was an add on option for the TE and not standard. Just giving you a heads up to make sure it's got it before settling on a price, but I agree it is an awesome system.

I believe it is an option, but the 3 in my area that I'm looking at all have it.

    Both would be the best!!!
But I don't have the funds to do both unless we trade my wife's car on the 4runner. Trouble is, she doesn't want one
