Just stopped at the dealer I bought my 2013 from a few weeks ago because I saw they got a 2014 double cab in.

It was a 2014 grey double cab TRD for $33,999.

It did not have: color matched grill, hood scoop, color matched mirrors with turn signals, side steps or even the TRD exhaust tip.

I now don't feel bad about my double cab 2013 SR5 that didn't come with any of the above for $31,980 as I can add ALL that stuff and a bunch more for less than the cost of the 2014 TRD that would need the same amount of money put into it.

I needed to see one to answer why I didn't buy a TRD and that is why!

Also when I bought mine there was a 2013 TRD access cab right next to it with all the goodies for $130 less than my truck. So basically you're loosing the extra seats to gain a hood scoop and some color matched pieces and $130.

Double cab was well worth it! Oh, and I have the longer bed :)

You are missing the rear locker and A-Trac.

Get a quote at your favorite off-road shop for ARB rear air locker and compressor, installed, and see how much of the $2000 you "saved" still remains. :)

I know price varies by location/demand but I got my 2013 DCSB 4x4 TRD sport for $29,762. Msrp was about $32,900. I am happy with it and the price I got it for with only a few miles.

Daily driver, it was just time for a truck hauling stuff around in a 2011 focus was tough! Though I could fit 10 foot pieces of molding into the car and still shut the trunk!

Things like air conditioners wouldn't fit into the trunk and barely made it into the back seat with the way the doors open only to scratch the nice leather seats!

I sold the focus to the girlfriend and got the tacoma. I walk to work everyday and just wanted a truck for fun, but yeah don't really plan to offroad. But I don't plan to get rid of it for a long long time

I would feel too bad getting it dirty, I am a detail freak. I've had the truck for 2 weeks and 3 days and probably already washed it 6 times :D

OP, are you talking about 4x4 trucks, or prerunners? I cannot find anything in your sig or previous posts that states what you have. You have to specify if you are talking about TRD 4x4 or TRD prerunners. The price differences are going to be significant.

Ie. in your OP, you state: It was a 2014 grey double cab TRD for $33,999. TRD what?

nice, well it seems like your application doesnt call for the "man power" of offroad products... but anyways all that means is that you MUST install the turbo...:D:burnrubber:

TRD Sport is the only model that comes with a scoop and colormatched grille.
It's been that way for the entire 2nd Gen.

Just wondering why someone who never plans to go offroad would even bother paying extra for a 4x4. Yes it's nice to have when needed, but for someone who would deliberately avoid going offroad to keep his truck from getting dirty, it seems like a waste.

Just like scoops, and color matched grills, eh? ;)

Maybe it's not something YOU need, which is fine. But perhaps it's something others want and/or need. You can't compare 2 trucks that simply. The TRD Off Road has the A-trac and the electric locker. But, the one you saw could have had other options you didn't mention, like a tow package or entune w/ nav etc.

I paid 31,900 4 weeks ago for my DCSB TRD-OR, not sport, with tow & entune/nav, and the predator side steps (should have had them remove the steps and credit me the price). Your SR5 is at a different price point because it comes with different options. Options you obviously thought suited your need or tastes more. The TRD-OR fits my needs and tastes more, and came exactly like I wanted it, minus the steps.

Because in New York if you buy a 2wd truck you either don't drive in winter or you're an idiot lol

Yeah prices are all kinds of different, some people have gotten good deals on here I have seen, yours included. But yes I do want the scoop hood and color matched grill :D
