My truck feels like it wants to fish tail when making a left turn. Yesterday when it was raining here in NJ, I was driving down the highway and I felt like I could lose control easily. I had my truck at the dealer and a local shop and everything is tight, both places did very thorough inspections, but found nothing. There is a slight steering wheel shake at 70 and higher, but no one can find anything. Wheels were road force balanced a month ago.
It is a strange sensation, like I have vertigo making left turns. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just throwing this out there, maybe your rear springs are finally toasted.

I have helpers on the back, I'm gonna pull them off this weekend.

I dont see any visual problems with the leafs, how else can I test them?

All of my experience stems from snapped oem leafs. I would start rocking the truck side to side to see how much it moves, and how easily. You could throw a few hundred pounds in the back and see how badly they are deflecting, i.e. are they down to the bump stops.

All in all, OEM rear leafs are rubbish. That's just a fact us Taco owners have to live with. First thing I did was swap mine with Dakars, and sold them to a guy with a 2006. Your truck is 8 years old, it's time to replace them. You can get a great deal on new ones from any of the guys who have lifted their 2013-14's.

That said, I'm not 100% your rears are the sole culprit. if the techs went through the rear end with a fine toothed comb, than I am much more inclined to stick with my original theory given the age of the truck.

since your truck is a limited slip, in slick conditions it will slide very easily if your hammering throttle on it through turns.

my brother's 05 sport scared the shit out of me one time in the rain. went to do a u-turn in a hurry and threw that thing sideways without even trying. . . . I played it off like a boss though:cool:

I once had that problem and also skidded when I was braking lightly and I found out it was a rear shock that broke off the eye. The new shocks I have on the truck have really stiff bushings and the small amount of axle-wrap is hard on them.

Suckfest, I know. But if every other rear end component is good to go that just leaves the springs, and we know they suck terribly. Put a feeler out on TW for a newer set of OEM leafs. I know guys who gave theirs away after they installed their lifts.

I have had that happen to me a few times. Drove a 5.0 mustang as a kid so I am no stranger to driving with the ass end on the shoulder.

These trucks are pretty "rear light." I can whip mine around all day (in the damp) even with the cap on it and some random crap in the bed. When the roads are wet use less throttle when you don't want to spin and slide or just put it in 4H and hell it (don't do that all the time though). I haven't made it slide in 4H yet...its pretty stable....that would be the best bet for the wife when the roads are wet. with my truck not having traction control and my mom driving it from time to time, i tell her to not be afraid to use 4wd when it rains.
I would say these guys are right about the rear leafs possibly being suspect...might want to jump up and down on the bumper and wiggle the back to see how stiff it is. It should feel pretty stout unless the parts are wearing out and clunking around. Hope you find a fix that works for you! Drive safe!

Even being cautious and a sedate driver in the city the first time or two it rained my truck was wagging its tail turning right from stop signs like nothing. It's amazing what the torquey V6, LSD, and a super light back end does in 2WD.

I bought such an old truck because the mileage was so low. I am kinda regretting going with the older truck though. I am just glad i purchased the extended warranty with it, paid for itself already, but don't think it covers new springs. I was hoping to have 120,000 on it before I had to worry about these things.
