After waiting almost a month for my lift to come in and almsot as long for my wheels, I finally made an appointment to have all of it put on. I dropped all of my parts off at the local offroad shop that was going to do the work on Friday. Monday afternoon I dropped the truck off so they could start on if first thing Tuesday morning. I was going to get off work early to take care of some personal business and pick the truck up that afternoon. :)

I thought I had done all of my homework and purchased a 6" ProComp Stage II lift, some 17x9 Moto Metal 955's and a set of BFG 285/70 KM2's. I couldn't wait to see it all put together. Around noon the call came in. "Dude, we have a problem. You can't run 17" wheels with this kit." WHAT!?
"We came across a piece of paper in the last box that says you MUST run 18" wheels with this kit." BS, I have researched, seen pictures, everything. "Well, let us test fit one of the wheels when we get it put back together. We'll let you know." I'm thinking, this isn't a fly-by-night shop. They have done hundreds of lifts on all kinds of trucks. They'll figure something out.

In the meantime, I call ProComp. What I heard wasn't good! What really SUX is that this information isn't posted anywhere on the internet, that I could find. A couple of places have notes that say

"Note: 6" of lift allows the use of 35" x 12.50" tires on 18" diameter rims up to 9" wide with up to 5.5" backspacing and 35" x 12.50" tires on 20" diameter rims up to 9" wide with up to 6" backspacing."

Notice it DOES NOT say that YOU MUST use 18" wheels. Later on they call again to say the wheels are definitely a NO GO. Even with spacers  Then he tells me the bolts, for the front shaft supplied with the kit, weren't in the box. I was freakin livid!

So now, my truck sits at the shop taking up valuable lift space until I can get some wheels and tires, which from the looks of it, may not be until FRIDAY.

Needless to say, I'm in a bind. And, what was going to be the highlight of my day after taking care of that personal business I spoke of earlier....did I mention that was having a root canal done?.....vanished into thin air :(

Well, at least the root canal went smoothly

That sucks! Don't rush on the wheels, make sure you get ones you're stoked on... you have to look at them everyday.
