Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
yea, in that case the price would have gone up on the way there, and they would have taken a finger if i didnt pay.

Holy chit... you really would be in an uproar if you had a Volkswagen. Try pricing a mass air flow meter for a Passat... let's just say you can buy entire used cars for what those things cost.

Toyota wants $2200 for a p.o.s. delphi A/C compressor that costs $360 on rockauto, $80 a u-joint, $280 for the driveshaft center bearing...

Then there's the thousand plus dollars to do one rear wheel bearing

Or the dealer trying to claim they can't put in that overpriced u-joint and you have to buy a new $900 driveshaft

Or $180 for a blower motor that chirps in six months

Or claim you need to replace the rear window at $1200 if the slider window seal doesn't stay in its groove

Or when the end connector on the 4-wire dealer-installed trailer harness gets corroded enough that it won't work, that end connector with 15" of wire is $52.14, or instead you can buy the whole blasted kit that also includes the wire up to the cab, the relay, the fuses, AND the under-dash controller for only $40 more

Or when the light bulb behind the HVAC controls goes out and locally only the dealer has replacements for $15 each

Or when the radio turns itself on and off by itself until it gets stuck on max volume, a radio they want over $500 just for the unit if you're silly enough to buy it again

I priced spark plug wires for my best friend's Corolla.... almost $200 for a four cylinder that still ran a distributor

Waiting for the air injection system to fail on the Tundra. That's $4000 to get it out of limp mode because of an emission system failure that only operates for the first 35 seconds after a cold start.

    stealership = stealership = stealership

Don't know what they are now but many Honda longblocks were less than 3 grand a few years ago. I remember pricing a replacement d16y8 for around $2500. Thankfully I never needed to swap it out despite its notoriously underpowered oil pump.

Heck when I did my front wheel bearings on that car, I bought the bearings for $40 each, took the knuckles to the dealer, and they pressed them both in for a grand total of $20. That's right, a C note got me both new OEM bearings from the dealer with the press work done at the dealer.

Toyota has unbelievable costs? Yep. Thankfully at least on the average it's more reliable than the alternatives.

Any OEM part is not going to be cheap. I doubt you'll find any manufacturer whose rearview mirror would cost 24 bucks at the dealership. OEM parts are expensive to begin with.

As mentioned you can either go aftermarket or find another source online for the OEM parts. I never buy parts from the dealership. I'll find an online source for OEM.

News to me, last I heard it was bumped into the 8/80 emissions warranty. If it's longer, that's awesome.

Otherwise in the event of a major failure out of warranty the alternative was going to be a logic circuit that someone made up on tundrasolutions. After install, whenever the starter is cranking, the intake air temp sensor is bypassed and instead a fixed resistance sent to the PCM that fools it into thinking that the air is below freezing. Pumps never start, the valves never open, everything is still plugged in, and the truck stays out of limp mode. It supposedly works provided you can get the rusty valves to close.

That's inexcusable. What's Toyota trying to tell us? The Tundra can be had with the 5.7 for 32k, and the iQ has an MSRP of $16250
