Fuel tank capacity, Toyota lied!!!

I've always been suspicious of DWM's ability to enforce ALL gas stations plus all the other stuff they have to inspect. I feel like gas stations could just enter some numbers and rip you off whenever they feel like it. I don't know how the whole system works though.

 

I'll bet that they are. They are molded with a high precision mold. We are talking about a few microns difference Maybe at most.

 

The very definition of mass-production ensures that they will be the same. If they were hand-made, then maybe....

Someone on the forum has a truck with around 100k on it and a theif punched his tank and RTV'd in a hose so he could steal gas regularly (tucked the top of the hose into the wheel well above tank level).

The guy replaced his tank. Posted photos of the original tank, and it was absolutely clean inside. White plastic, looked brand new. No dirt, no sediment, no staining.... just pearly white plastic.

 

Yes the gas station is ripping people off when you have to pay about $0.55 more per gallon than we go.

Most I have filled up was exactly 20 gallons.

I had a Subaru outback for 12 years and several times put more gas in the tank than it was rated. I never thought it was a big deal.

 

Very interesting how many people made the assumption that the pump must be right.

 

The tank is 80 litres

 

If my light comes on during my trip home from work (40 miles), I always fill it the next day when I get home. Generally 50 miles on the light. Never pumped 19, 18something on the reg.

82 for a fill-up?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Mine is about 65 for a full tank and I use mid-grade.

Looks like the highest I've paid since I started my Fuelly account in April '12 was $4.68, one year ago.

 

21 gallon tank PLUS .1-.5 gallon reserve.. (not like a dirtbike reserve lol)

i have put over 21 in mine before, and 21.3 was the most, but i filled it untill it was full up the neck..

 

The tank is 21.1 US gallons / 80 litres
