Im with the op on the jack position. Are you supposed to jack off the axle? I guess the ubolt plate is the only spot to jack from if you do.

    Stop laughing...

Jack from the axle, the u-bolt plate works just fine but you can jack inside of that also if need be. Press the parking brake and, whatever you do, do not get under the truck while it's being supported by the emergency jack.

How about this, I'll stop laughing when you read your Owner's Manual.

Be careful when you're jacking the axle; if you let it go too far it gets grease everywhere, and then you've got a mess to clean up.

Nah, he's too young for that. His generation's equivalent is that his Iphone didn't have reception, so he couldn't update to FB about it.

Ha ha no I didn't have to do that. While changing the tire I watched two others spin out where I did and then leave with out offering to help.

Come on now. I am better than that. Besides if I had updated my Facebook about it my mother would have seen it and thrown a fit. It was hard enough to make the call to her and tell her I had bent my steering knuckle and broke my tie rod and dented the hell out of the passenger side

You can place the jack anywhere on the axle with no ill results.

Would your mom be afraid that you can't change a tire?

No the fact that I slid off the road. Hit a metal pole causing me to bend my steering knuckle , break my tie rod and dent my door to hell and back

    Probably true.
But one of the benefits of getting older is that you get to mock the younger generation as 'soft' even if they aren't.

Says the elderly man of 29.:D

I still find it amazing when you bastards tell me you were born in 1994-95. I remember being in the theater watching Jurassic Park on the big screen in '93.

And back in my day we didn't have 3D movies, or Dolby Surround sound. Popcorn so yellow and full of chemicals you couldn't tell if the usher had a smoking problem or popcorn stuck in his teeth.

They just cranked that fucking thing up to 11 and you prayed the bolts holding the seat together didn't come apart half way through the movie.

WOO-HOO! JURASSIC PARK! I was 9 when that came out in theatres. Right at the peak of Dinosaur madness in a young kid, and out comes that movie? Awesome. It's still a great movie. I wish they'd do a re-release on it so I could see in theatres again, though.

My question instead of doing a bunch of bs ratcheting around the axel why didnt you deflated the tire and pop it on and air back up again? Good on ya fixin a issue just a safer way to do it.
