I have the 4cyl and put limited mileage on my truck. However, I think that waiting for 120K mi or 12 years is just asking for a problem when removing these. I feel that they should be removed and replaced (with new plugs since they are cheap) at about 70K. Sooner if you are mudding the truck? Beside, longer than that breakage, wire/boot damage is very probable to me....

    BamaToy1997 What's your opinion ?? I'm curious....

what? i've never heard of changing plugs at 30k.

i drove my 1988 toyota truck for 300k miles or more and only changed the plugs one time.

Plagiarism on the interwebz is okay in my book. It makes me feel like a smarter person until I get home and am schooled by my nine year old. Although, I usually put article snippets in quotes if I don't post a direct link.

I just replaced mine at 114k I think for the first time. Jeesh I know! I am useually much better at the maintenance. I don't know why I didn't read or check my manual but I thought they were 100k plugs...oops.

Anyway the gap grew to .60/65 lol otherwise looked fine.

Replaced the plugs cleaned the mass airflow sensor and did a decarb service. Truck runs better.

I inspected the iridium/platinum plugs in my 2009 4cyl at 70,000 miles, they were still serviceable but the gaps were wide so I replaced them.

Iridium/platinum plugs come gapped (I bought NGKs), they should not be gapped, apparently you can wear off the plating.

Spark plugs are one of the biggest items affecting mileage and performance and one of the easiest to take care of.

The manual for my truck recommends spark plug replacement at 100,000 miles. OEM plugs were iridium and looked fine when I changed them at 80k miles.
