Since I last changed my oil, I have since noticed slight drops of motor oil on the garage floor. Got under the truck and looked and its surely coming from the motor oil pan but I'm unsure where exactly. Nearly all the oil pan bolts as well as the drain bolt have oil on them. I did not replace the drain plug gasket last time so this may be it. But there is oil all around the seal of the pan too so I'm unsure if that could be it and it is just flowing downwards to the plug causing that to be wet. The pan looks like its sealed with silicone rather than a gasket so I didn't think this was possible to leak here!

Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas? It's such a small amount of oil loss I haven't been concerned but now it's finally time to change the oil again so I wanna get it fixed. I have cleaned up the whole area really well and am gonna check it again tomorrow to hopefully see more clearly where the leak is from after driving it.

The truck is a 2010 with the 4.0 and just over 60k on it. I've been using full synthetic oil the past few changes.

Clean it well with degreaser or do the underbody wash deal at the car wash. Then take foot powder and throw it by the handful all around the oil pan. Let it sit and idle until the engine is warmed up, shut it off and have a look. The foot powder will show exactly where the leak is at. I knocked a hole in mine, but I was jumping a lot and caved in the motor mounts causing the oil pan to kiss the front diff. Believe it or not, it didn't leak much. Most of the oil is in the sump (the part with the oil plug in it)

    Holy shit!!!

OP it does seem strange that it would be all around the oil pan and drain plug. (if I'm reading you correctly). Hope you get it figured out.

Wow the powder idea is something ill definitely try if I can't find it easily tomorrow. But yeah it is awfully strange that both the seal and drain plug have oil.

doording, I always keep the engine clean, just not the whole undercarriage! :D I used simple green on the oil pan to clean it today!

V6 engine has had issues with timing chain cover leaking oil on the passengers side of the engine where the head, block, and timing cover all come together. 2010 was supposed to be okay, but I would check. Many report it's a very small leak, synthetic oil seems to find those small leaks, and slip through in larger quantities compared to dino oil.

Mine has been leaking from the timing chain cover for 5 years. It's such a small amount though, it never bothered me. But if your under warranty, get it checked out.

    Thanks man!
I've got the V6...I had no idea its a two part pan. It would appear the lower pan from my basic knowledge however.

Nah my warranty is over now but I probably should have had it looked at because it was still under warranty when I first noticed, im just an idiot and didn't even think of that!

perhaps when the filter was changed, oil was left in the little catch pan under the filter and started dripping down slowly?

    Synthetics won't cause oil leaks.

No offense, but you did remove the old oil filter gasket right?

I've seen one that didn't and oil was spraying out between
the old and new gaskets...which looked like it was coming
from the pan but was just getting sprayed there and dripping
    down from it.

    good luck with it.

I just looked at it underneath it today and oil is definitely seeping out of the seam of the oil pan where the silicone/gasket is towards the bed of the truck. Apparently my Platinum Warranty is coverage up to 65,000 miles, so I'm taking it in tomorrow! Ill keep y'all posted

Have you ever looked at the definition of a "recall"?

I'm not saying that maybe they shouldn't maybe give you a little love, but it also doesn't fit the recall definition either.

After all you are well over the power train warranty at 132K miles. Hell I wouldn't cover it either.

How long has it been leaking?
When did you bring it up to the dealer?

The TSB is good for the power train warranty period which is 60 months or 60K miles. During this time they do fix the issue for No Cost. After that... Its all yours.

I just checked and Squatcher seems to be all Butt Hurt over his timing cover leaking at 132,000 miles. Trolling and Spammed it all over the forums it seems.

What a Poon-tang! Looks like a good candidate for the Ignore Function.
