I'm getting a grunting type sound coming from my front end. The sound is only heard when I move forward/reverse from stand still. I don't hear the grunting while driving nor going over bumps just at initial take off.
I only have 24,000 miles on vehicle and have never been off-roading. Any body out there have any ideas?

Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
welcome, do you have m/t tires?

I'm going with the air intake pipe rubbing on the passenger's side inner fender. Try loosening the clamp at the airbox and turning the rubber tube a 1/4" to the front or rear to give more room at the fender.

I am with you on this one as well. Just take off the intake tube all together and leave the lid with filter see if it goes away. If it does use the search function on this forum and you will find tips and tricks to stop the vibration/rubbing.

Colder weather is more noticeable.

I believe the guys above that stated the OR models brake setup is on newer model tacomas, he is a 07 which it was not optioned on yet.

Hi all.

Here is an excerpt from the repair manual.

3. INITIAL CHECK

(a) When the vehicle speed first reaches approximately 6 km/h (4 mph) or more after the ignition

switch has been turned ON, each solenoid valve and the brake actuator motor are sequentially

activated to perform electrical checks. During the initial check, the operating sound of the motor

can be heard from the engine compartment, but this does not indicate a malfunction.

Mine sounds like a click.
Normal operation ...

Cheers
Ray.
