    Hi,

I'm trying to get some help with my 2006 Tacoma frame rust issue. My truck was purchased new at Crestmont Toyota in New Jersey. It was in New Jersey up until 2012. The truck is now located in Charleston, SC. I've had the dealer here look at it. The Southeast rep said there's nothing they can do for me. The whole frame looks bad. The attached picture is of thedriver side catalytic converter area.

    Basically a big f#%k you!!!!!!!!!!

Eeek... If you don't mind me asking...

Was the unrelated maintenance something you were already aware of prior to taking your truck in for the frame replacement? Or was it stuff they found while taking the truck apart to replace the frame? If the latter, did they contact you beforehand to obtain approval to do the extra work?

I ask because I am hoping to avoid surprises. An $2,100 surprise would be most unwelcome. My dealer has agreed to replace my shocks, struts, front axles, and clutch when they do my frame (no labor for anything except the clutch), and I already have a pretty good idea of what that stuff will cost. What concerns me is the "other" stuff that might come up during the frame work.

Thank you in advance for any additional info you are willing to share!

At least those rust from the outside in, so there are no surprises.

    Ford is great actually.

Spindles and the ends on the cv's are not coated so they have a rust layer as a seal. Like some steel telephone poles

It was previously coated when I purchased it last November.

I touched up a few spots when I rebuilt the front end in January.

The most proactive approach up in the Northeast is cleaning the frame and components after the winter, no matter what kind of vehicle you drive.

Awesome, hope you have a new frame soon! I'm going to email "Roy G" at Toyota Customer Experience again tomorrow to find out what the reason is they are refusing to replace my frame. Do they not realize people actually move from state to state, especially military personnel!

Different times for different locations/dealers. Seems to be about a week though +/- a couple days for most.

I was told 6-8 weeks. I hope it's less. I drove by the dealership yesterday just to check on my truck and make sure nobody's taken it on a joyride or anything. Maybe I'm paranoid...

well, I meant once they started. There are other issues in the mix as well. New frame at the dealer and ready to go?? Same with your truck. Mechanic / bay open/ready. I some cases then dealer took the trucks and then had to order the frame etc. I was indication actual frame swap.

Do not worry, I have been doing the same thing!! Toyota started me out with a Corolla, then asked me it if I would like a new Camry which I got yesterday, I told them that I need a truck so they will deliver to me Monday a new HighLander. That is the best they can do, they have no trucks...

I got the letter a few days ago. Should I go now? I am worried that I'll go now, not get a new frame and just get the coating done. Then have problems with the frame further down the road. How long does the recall go for?
