Update on the rust perforation on my frame. I received a call on May 12, 2015 to bring in my Tacoma to have the new frame installed. The service manager asked me if I would prefer a Camry or a Rav 4 loaner vehicle. I told him the Rav 4 as I have never driven one before. I went to the dealer and the gave me the keys to the loaner and took my Tacoma, stating that the frame change would be done in two days. I thought that he must be kidding but went along with it. On May 14 at about one thirty in the afternoon, I received a call that my truck was ready. I went for it about two hours later and lo and behold my truck had a new frame, rear springs, new brake lines, and a chain through the spare tire to catch it, if it ever tries to run away from the vehicle. The service manager proceeded to show me the old frame and some trucks in the middle of the frame change.I've only put about fifty miles on it so far and no problems. The total cost of the whole process was over $12,000. I am really surprised that they would spend that much to change a frame, but it is cheaper than a negligence lawsuit for not doing the repairs. I'll send more updates as I put some mileage on the truck. So, overall it wasn't a bad experience.

I went to pick my truck up from the dealer on Saturday, after it being there for 5+ months. I parked next to it in the lot, because I needed to move some stuff over from the rental. When I got out to give it a quick once over, before going in to the service dept, the windshield had a crack running from one side to the other. It also looked like someone borrowed it , because it had scratches down both sides, and hood had a solid dried up grease line across the front. When I spoke with the service rep, I was told the windshield must have cracked from the weather, and it was my responsibility. And the scratches were because the truck was old (2006).
As this point my wife stepped in, because I was ready to blow a gasket. I'm waiting to hear Monday what the outcome is, the only one of authority there was the parts manager, and he was hesitant to make a decision. They did say they would detail it.
It'll be interesting to see what they have to say come Monday.

I'd ask the Dealer to put that in writing and tell him you will forward it to Corp Toyota. Tell him to include the statement that although it was in "their" care for months, nobody saw or reported the damage. Also the fact that although they completely removed the bed and Cab from the frame they are claiming no responsibility for the damage. Demand that they stand by their refusal and put it in writing if they refuse to repair the issues. Then I'd still call corporate and report either the unsolved problem, and their poor customer service.

What I'm surprised about, is that it doesn't seem like many of these dealers are even taking notes on any existing issues/defects with the vehicles they're taking in. Like when your checking in, or out a rental vehicle. This will serve both the customer, and the dealer. Especially seeing as how long some of these vehicles have been spending on the dealer lots.

My truck spent 3 weeks at the dealer, and I have since picked it up, and is now sitting in my garage waiting for the frame. One thing I did before I dropped it off was take a full set of "before" pictures of everything. Body panels, interior, under hood, and even undercarriage.

Even my dealer, who has always done great work, and been very professional, just grabbed my keys when I originally dropped it off, and didn't go over anything, as far as condition of the truck.

After calling to speak with the service manager several times today, I finally got to speak with him. He didn't know that he was supposed to me. They are replacing the windshield, but don't know when it will be done. They are using a OEM windshield, so it will take a few days to be delivered. He also didn't know that it was supposed to be detailed, & had no clue that they still had the truck. So, maybe late next week I'll be able to pick it up. Told him not a problem, I'll just keep putting miles on the Tundra.
I've already sent an e-mail to corporate and will follow up with letter about the poor customer service I received.
I did drive past a dealership this morning and saw a Limited that was calling my name. So when I get mine back, I might just drive right there and get rid of mine.

When I took the truck in for the frame change the service manager walked around the truck and made a video of it on his i phone. My truck was first checked by the dealer back in November,2014 and I explained that I needed a truck for work and such, they let me take my truck home after ordering the new frame. They said they would notify me when the frame arrived which was May 12,2015. I guess that if they felt that the frame was unsafe, I never would have been allowed to leave with it.

Went to pick up my truck today. New frame and ALMOST all associated parts. I have the URD o2 simulator & after the tech hooked it up backwards it threw a p0059 code; They are refusing to replace the O2 sensor & after a test drive I noticed they didn't replace any of the brake lines under the hood. They also won't replace the exhaust manifold gaskets because they didn't have to disconnect it there. And I don't think they charged the AC at all (hot air).

This is Lia Toyota in colonie, ny

And there is a shudder when I accelerate.

The shudder would likely be your center support bearing. But not for certain.

I was too pissed off about the O2 sensor suddenly malfunctioning. Will take more when I get it back.

Dude sorry to break it to you but get ready for 8-10 months. Put fuel stabilizer in the tank if you are leaving it at the dealer. Stop by at least once a month and drive it around the parking lot to keep the tires from rotting. This is the struggle that many are having to endure.

Well I guess that ok but it's nice to have something else to put miles on while one waits. As long as you take the necessary precautions in regards to the well being of your truck while it sits. I'm at 4 months which is probably half way there.
