I may buy my first Tacoma tomorrow but it seems high compared to kbb. It's a 2008 crew cab 4x4 trd sport package with 82000 miles. Great condition an kbb has it listed at 22,000 yet the dealer ship has it listed as 22,600 and 25,200 out the door... He won't budge at all on price and says right now dealer ships are paying more for tacomas, so good deal or overpriced? Also I'm in California
    Thanks
Also it's a v6 and a 5ft bed and when you've bought a used Tacoma do the dealerships ever go down in price?

Thanks guys for the answers, so this is a bad buy so what do you think I should be able to get with 25,000 out the door if its a double cab 4x4 as far as miles go?

Over $25k out the door for an 08 with 82k??:eek:I'd tell them to get bent. You can get a used 2010 with less miles for that price, at least i did. I'd look elsewhere or tell them $22k out the door. Interest rates start going up as vehicles age too. Thats almost a 6 year old vehicle.

I hope they at least lube you up before they screw you. That's way over priced, even in CA. I bought a 2009 PreRunner with 38k miles on it for 18,500 last month. I know that's a 4x4 but it's still over priced.

^This. I just got a 2012 sport with Entune, bed cover, and only 16,000 miles and it is mint condition for 26,300 out the door and a 2.09% rate.

    Just starting...
Was this a "Certified" used vehicle? In other words, was it taken very good care of by the previous owner - good enough for them to offer a warranty?

One thing about averages: the person to does factory maintenance and takes good car of a Toyota will have something much nicer at 82,000 miles than "average."

Also take a close look at all the options - are there things like a tow package and JBL sound raising the price?

Check out Autotrader.com for 4x4 trucks in your area and see what else is available in your price range. The 4x4 does not seem to depreciate nearly as fast - they're hard to come by in good condition used. I've not seen a good condition used 4x4 anyplace but listed above kbb.
