Anyone have the 2.7 super charger?

I was looking at getting the 2.7 supercharger from URD down the road and wanted to know if anyone had it and how you like it.

 

Nobody?

 

Based on the idea that people would get the 2.7 for MPG or just don't need the power. Why would you put one on it?

 

Does kind of seem irrelevant to put that in a 2.7.

 

I was just wondering because I plan on keeping my truck for a while and wanted to see if it was worth the price.

 

I don't think that anyone here has put a Supercharger into a 2.7. It's like 23's on an El-Camino and lifting it 8 inches.

If you bought the 2.7 for MPG, I am sure that putting a S/C isn't going to help your gas mileage. If you weren't worried about gas mileage then I would have got the V6 and not the 2.7.

 

My parents got this for me when I went off to college. They had been looking for a 4x4 tacoma but couldn't find one anywhere near us in florida in decent shape. They found this the day it was traded in and got it. I love the 2.7 and really don't care about the mileage.

 

I would if I had the dough! I have a reg. cab 4x4 because it is usually just me in it and it was 13-15 grand cheaper than a 4door. But it would be nice to have the extra power

 

Thats how I am. I have the access cab so it is either just me or one other because no one wants to ride in the back. I also think it would be fun to have the extra power

puttin on a s/c isnt going to really hurt your gas mileage unless u are pedal to the metal all the time. stay outta boost and u dont use any extra fuel

 

I think it would be cool to have a single cab 5 lugger with a SC. Or better would be a 5lugger single cab with a 4.0 and SC. Sorry I dont have anything of value to add to this thread.

 

It has been in the back of my mind to. Along with armor, wheels, and new suspension setup

 

you would get better results from putting together a turbo setup. you would get more power and keep the same gas mileage for highway cruising when staying out of boost

 

My 2.7L has the URD S/C, the thing is awesome like a totally different truck. Its spendy no doubt about it but well worth it for my application running a ton of extra weight and 36" tires with 4.88 gears. I can set my cruise in 5th gear and hold the speed limit now and still have enough to pass going up hill when I drop it into 4th. Mileage wise I'm averaging 18.5 mpg 75% in town 25% highway.

The ease of installation with the URD kit and having all engine management control taken care is a big plus. I have some buddies that are building turbos from scratch for their cars (Toyotas and Nissans) and it just doesn't seem worth the frustration of trying to figure it all out with custom exhaust manifolds and oil scavenging issues etc. they run across. Although when they get them right they are sweet, what they save in parts they expend in hours figuring the stuff out. The other thing with using URD is you have the tech support that Gadget offers which is huge for someone like me who has very little experience with this kind of stuff. All of this is my opinion, and if you have the knowledge and skills to build it from scratch I'm all for it.
