My 2014 Tacoma was scheduled to be built starting 11/4 in San Antonio. I am wondering how long it takes them to finish the truck and how quick are they to get them on freight and delivered to the dealership? I am in N. Calif. Thanks for any info, I am anxious!:)

They told me within 2 weeks to delivery once they start building it. Truck was ordered about 6 weeks ago, start of build was 11/4.

If they started on the 4th I believe they would have also finished it on the 4th. I wouldn't be surprised if you see it end of next week.

Hopefully, you receive it faster than I received my 2013 when I ordered it last January. It didn't arrive at the dealer's until the end of May. But, I did want leather seats, etc. so I assume they build the most common models/options first and "special" orders last. Then, of course, shipping it to Canada probably added a considerable amount of time. Who knows?

The mass production line can usually pump out a couple hundred vehicles a day. That being said, sometimes it may take a couple of weeks to get a vehicle in the production cue. Once built then it is in the next line: waiting to get loaded up for shipping.

If your truck actually did start it's build on the 4th, I would think it would be at the dealership soon. Many dealerships only take deliveries once a week, so depending on delivery situations, it may be next week before it hits the dealership. Then it gets unloaded and put into the PDI que. (Pre-Delivery inspection) It could take up to 3 or 4 days for it to finish PDI.

Of course that is not the same for every dealership. Closer to the plant? probably a faster delivery to dealership. More PDI inspectors? Faster through PDI que.

Mine was scheduled to be built on the 4th also. Dealership told me that once built "things go pretty fast from there" and delivery at the dealership should happen within 2 weeks. I'm in NorCal also - maybe they will show up on the same day?

Sounds like I need to have another chat with my dealership. I ordered a '14 about three weeks ago and they told me it was coming from Mexico and would be week after Thanksgiving.

Ha, hopefully they didn't sell us the same truck! They just emailed me and said the truck should be delivered 11/16, so things are moving along. I am just a bit anxious I guess:)
