Went to have the truck serviced for 30k miles - under warranty i had the headlights replaced due to fading.
asked if they can put the smoked headlights on -- answer was NO because the replacement had to be Vehicle Trim Specific

well guess what - they put the smoked headlights on anyway,

maybe cause they thought my truck wasn't a TRD off road because of the scooped hood.

    Score

just wanted to share the excitement.

Is the headlight fading a TSB?

If you don't mind me asking, what did you pay for the 30K mile service? Mine is due soon and I'm curious. Thanks.

You think that melting bulbs would be more important then headlight fading.

Oil change and tire rotation was 65 - bit high but I had the warranty repair done so I didn't argue and paid for it - I usually change my own oil - I have heard that it can be as much as 80 for a regular service.
They wanted 170 to change plugs due at 30k
I just bought the plugs at parts dept and do it myself.

Holy shit! Took me all of an hour to change mine. $170? I realize that they pay by the hour but damn...

Techs are not paid by the hour. They are paid by "flat rate" which means they get paid based on average labor time from start to finish to complete a job. If the job pays 1 hour, you get paid 1 hour, regardless of if it takes 20 minutes, or an hour and a half. Flat rate time for a 1GR engine is lists as .8 hour to complete. Average nationwide labor rate is $95 per hour. That is $76 for labor. Plugs, would be about $67.50. So once you figure tax and everything, a 1GR would be about $150, not counting shop supplies and all.
