1/2 a quart - fine till next service. If it was the whole fill, my advice would be to drain it.

    Phew.. lol

What's the average mile/km between servicing? I think it's been 7,500 miles since last change, it's time?

IIRC, the manual says you can put 10w-30 in it if 5w-30 is not available and replace with 5w-30 in at the next service.

5,000 miles is the suggested oil change interval.

Isn't it 5,000 miles or 5 months, whichever comes first? I usually go by the months since I drive only half as much.

mixing the weights of oil isn't going to affect anything, using 5w-30w or 10w-30w, pfft, hardly any difference..

now, if it was a half quart of water, I would be concerned, just kidding..

Yeah, there is a time limit too for those who don't drive a lot. I thought it was 6 months but I don't really have to worry about that so I haven't looked in a while. I always hit 5,000 miles first.

Why did she add oil in the first place?
Difference between full and low marks on dipstick is MORE than a quart.
How low was the oil before she added the 1/2 quart?
Had she let it sit long enough that existing oil drain back to the oil pan?
My opinion is if 1/2 quart brought it to full, it really didn't need any added.
Our dipsticks are NOT the easiest to read, did she get a good reading (take out dipstick, let sit 5 minutes so oil in dipstick tube drains into pan (along with rest of the engine), THEN take a more accurate reading).

OH no drain it right away! No problem dude give her credit for checking it a 1/2 qt will not make any difference either way slightly low or slightly over full. If you take the weights of the oils add them up divide by the number of qt's it might change the mix by .05 drive more worry less.

OP is in Canada, so his interval is correct, as Rich pointed out.

But he specifically said he does it at 7,500 miles, not KMs so his interval is not correct.
