Actually thats only applicable to those that actually give a shit what other people think. I will gladly do what ever I want, wear what ever I want, and drive what ever I want and I dare anyone to say otherwise to my face. I generally am not this nicest looking approachable person to most people. 4 tours to war Iraq and Afghanistan, 11 years forward deployed around the world, and hating the general public and you learn to just not care about other peoples opinions and do what you want... And to prove it, would someone who cared go out in public like this???

So again, why do you care what other people think, its cosmetic. It has nothing to do with performance or anything other than your own personal feel good meter!

I've got a package (I believe was POI) that includes the TRD bead lock style wheels (fake). I think they look decent. My truck is super white with black rims. That I'm aware of, functionally they're no different then a stamped steel rim for the majority of my purposes as the truck serves primarily as a DD and accumulates 30,000+ miles a year on the interstate. On my past trucks I could have told you rim weight and the strength rating but, I have no clue about my particular rims or those others offered by Toyota or non-factory my size.

So, that being said and in terms of style (with few exception) I see them no different than anything that's not 100% basic or not 100% functional. I poke fun at people with scoops because they're fake in most cases but there's lots of things that are not really functional (at least for someone) on a lot of our trucks.

That being said, and as the second smartest guy (Rich) on the board has already pointed out, these's a few negatives to the fake head lock rims. They retain water like you ex girlfriend (and pretty much any mud my truck drives through). Even though my truck is a DD I do drive, on occasion, in places where mud gets trapped in the area between the bead & fake locking ring and me being OCD can't stand the vibration caused by being out of balance so I have to clean them.

My brother had the same wheels or a cheap knock off on his silverado. I didnt care for them on his truck granted they were 18s(not a fan of big wheels). They look a alot better on the tacoma than his white single cab longbed.

I wouldn't call beadlock style wheels lame, but it's just a cosmetic thing. I prefer just functional. Why add unnecessary unsprung weight, and make your wheels harder to clean? Maybe better to call them rash rings instead of beadlock style.
I guess this is like the simulated hood scoop threads :p

I actually just bought these for my truck 2 days ago! I'm pretty stoked for them to get here. I think it depends what you use your truck for, I would never put real bead locks on a commuter. Anyway, ntwonline.com has them for $99 a wheel right now. Kinda hard to pass up

I love mine. The ring weighs next to nothing so no biggie on weight issue. Easy to clean behind it also.
