What's lame is going offroad on wheels that do not have substantial mass at the bead area. I've busted more than my fair share of wheels that have thin lips like Countersteers. And that's too bad 'cause they are great looking wheels.

Illegality as per a LEO writing a ticket perhaps, however in the case of an accident and insurance claims/law suites yes. Likewise in CA. there is a growing push for vehicle inspections along with smog tests and every item not DOT approved would be fee flagged.

As it is many smog stations aren't smoging vehicles without door sticker tire size ( stock) on the vehicle.

    Silly CA

NJ just abandoned vehicle inspections for safety. Now it's up to the LEO's to keep the shit-buckets off the streets. We still have emissions testing and they don;t give a crap what condition your truck is in let along check your tire size.

I never got in trouble for having slicks on my stang so I'm pretty sure I'd never get in trouble for bead locks.

I don't view my rings as anything different than the beauty rings they used to put on old GM Rally wheels.

Which is funny because the scoop was the biggest reason I didn't want the Sport model.

    Oh well, (shrugs).

My plans were to do the same except with blue rings/black bolts on my nissan with a aggressive offset but I'm no where near that point on it.

I've seen a couple of 1st Gen Tundras that busted out the center of their Ivan Stewart TRD wheels.

I had a different experience. Here's a vid of two of them breaking at 80 mph. (about 44 seconds in) Those wheels are the reason I went with trail worthy fab beadlocks. I haven't broken one of those yet.
