I think I'm going to trade my Tacoma in for a Kia Rio that or a Chevy Spark.

    But Not really

Try being a snowmobiler or a dirtbiker and being on those forums. If it's not a full size domestic pickup that can tow 9000 lbs or more, it's not a truck.

Ya that's funny! When my pickup was in the shop getting rear pinion bearings replaced a few weeks ago all the rental car company had was a techno pink Chevy spark. What a turd and I don't mean TRD.:D The spark was a dog, 84hp, 76cid, 1.2 liter. Glad my trucks back for sure.:)

    Thanks,

    Brett

I'm not a real big guy but not small by any means. I would be afraid to get in a Spark because I'd be afraid that I wouldn't be able to get out.

Ya I'm with ya on that, that thing was a death trap. Toyota corollas in the rear view mirror looked huge.

    Thanks,

    Brett

For some of us this is why we gripe. It's because we the see all the threads about rust, gas mileage, suspension issues. What kind of lift should I get? What's the biggest tire I can go? How do I get better gas mileage with a 8 inch lift and 35's? I think that for some it's daunting and it's probably annoying at times. In the end most of us know the Tacoma is going to get us at home at the end of the day. We don't want to drive a Ford, a Dodge, a Prius. We come here to get better results and fixes to these minor issues Tacoma has. In all in all, we all love our Tacoma's. But for some it's easier to complain about the negatives then the positives. So there isn't hating on Tacoma here if you really think about it.

^ Those are all legitimate complaints though... doesn't mean we hate our trucks.

Perhaps "Tacoma haters" was a poor choice to start a thread, but boy, did it get response. "Frustrated Tacoma Owners" might have been more accurate. I joined this forum to get answers to questions I may never ask. I have no plans to tow a trailer (that's why I went with the 2.7), but I want to know what the towing capacity of my truck is. I went from an 07 Camry hybrid to an AC Prerunner so obviously fuel mileage was not the deciding factor in my purchase, but I'm still interested in finding out if there are ways to improve the mileage I'm getting. I tend to be pretty loyal to my brand and tend to minimize my frustrations.

I have my gripes about our trucks. 6th gear is practically useless, the rust issues are utter bullshit, the outdated 4.0 V6 that only makes 240hp is dumb... but by and large the whole package is better for my needs than all the other trucks out there.

Compared to other brands, Tacoma doesn't really have any big issues. If it wasn't for sites like TW, a lot of people wouldn't have known what kind of things they were getting into before they bought. Most of the little "quirks" can be dealt with easy enough. Some of them you can't really get rid of, like the "Toyota tick" for example. You may see a lot of negatives that Tacoma have but if you look around there is a lot of positives too. If you look around and look at the builds, the things people do to their Tacoma's is amazing. Some people here really love their Tacoma's. The little gripes don't stop people from loving their Tacoma's.

I think there are more things that people LIKE or LOVE about these trucks than what they dislike or find 'frustrating' It's not the truck itself - it's portions or parts of it that people find....frustrating.

Otherwise, if they truly don't like their truck..... people need to quit complaining and trade it in for something else!!
(some folks are never happy) :D

I dislike the fact that my paint has chips in it.
I dislike the fact that my truck is 7 years old already.
I dislike the fact that my bike fell over and put a big scratch in it.
I dislike the fact that I backed into a frigin tree and put a dent in my bumper
I dislike when its dirty and I don't have time to clean it.
My truck dislikes having to park outside all the time.
Me & my truck dislike the cold weather!! LOL

    ;)

I hear ya. I'm lucky enough to have a job where I am paid well for what I do. I don't have kids, and only commute about 3 miles round trip to work. That leaves a decent chunk of change to pay the bills and mortgage. The rest is saved or spent on hobbies. I guess that is what was meant by "born into it" or whatever runnor said.
And to stay on topic, my drivers side door rattles. I hate that.

Hey, you must know my mother-in-law...you're right about some people never being happy. And I dislike that a severe storm passed through our city and dropped a tree on top of my new Tacoma. Had less than 1900 miles. But damage was light and it's all fixed up now.
