If the harness is there, that's means the wires should already be run. The harness is the wires. Should just need to plug in the overhead unit, and potentially get an ambient temp sensor if it's not there. That would be cool

I'm pretty sure that is all it will entail other than ditching the stock mirror

That is very cool. Glad it worked out for him.

A MUCH cheaper option for you is to get an Ultra Gauge. It displays Outside Ambient Air Temperature and you can set it up to display up to 8 parameters at a time. A LOT cheaper than the mirror, but does not have the compass.

I bet it only displays intake air temp, which is pretty much outside air temp while you are driving, it being a factory CAI and all.

Only thing is I don't like the look of aftermarket units like that. Otherwise that's a sweet idea

I believe that IAT is a different parameter. I have attached the Ultra Gauge Manual and it lists all of the parameters and their definitions, they are listed as two separate parameters.

My Ultra Gauge does not display the outside temp, it is not an option on the menu...believe me, I looked!

He is saying intake air temp is almost as close as outside temp...i'll have to check because i think it'd be a little higher

You are right! Crap! If you look at the table of contents it shows "Intake Air Temp" as one parameter displayed and "Outside Ambient Air Temperature (ºF)" as another separate parameter. I just checked my UG on my truck and sure enough outside temp was NOT a selectable parameter. I think that the manual shows all the possible parameters that may be displayed IF the vehicle supports it. Sorry about that guys:(

It does give a general idea though. The IAT is in the MAF sensor so it's about 5-10 degrees higher than ambient when going down the road.

It's spot on or 1-2F higher on mine on the way to work, no where near 5-10 unless I'm sitting at an intersection then it might rise 5F temporarily.

If the vehicle doesn't have an ambient temp probe there is no way it can have that as a selectable parameter of course.

That is the interesting thing, our trucks do have an ambient temp sensor. It is on the center radiator support behind the grille, but the truck only uses it for the A/C temp differential, or so I have read...

I went from 07 Tundra Limted CrewMax to 14 Tacoma DC TRD Sport - came with basic mirror. Only thing about mirrors between trucks I missed was auto dimming and homelink. After reading thread on here determined the tacoma was prewired and I ordered a homelink auto dimming compass mirror for about $170 from the main guy on here. Literally a 10 min install for the new mirror and I love it! Sold base mirror on eBay for $15 just to help somebody out vs pitching it

I have to go along with this. If Ford brings back the Ranger or something comparable to it I will probally jump back to Ford.

Hi Dansmith! Do you have temperature display also, on that mirror? My 2014 Off-Road is missing this feature (false advertising), and I would really like to have it. I do have homelink auto dimming compass mirror on this truck, without temperature.
    Thanks!
