It's new and "improved" for 2014. No compass, and temp is displayed in the radio via a weather report from HD radio... And that's only if you have a signal available in your area. This new system is terrible. And I feel like I'm going to break the tiny knobs off of the radio. I miss my 2013's interior accessories.

There is an ongoing thread about this, I personally wouldn't have driven off the lot without it when the truck's sticker says I have one.

TRD Exhaust, Mobtown bolt on sliders and aluminum tailgate reinforcement, Reverse lights changed to yellow turn signals, LED pods added for reverse, ADD W1 oil catch can, Total Chaos bed reinforcement, rear diff breather to taillight mod, 12" combo led bars behind lower grill wired to high beams, Toyota led bed light kit, 400 watt anytime mod, SSO slimeline front bumper.

Reminds me of the feeling I have about the "6" speaker radio system in my 13 Access Cab.

Without the compass, I'm surprised he knew which way to drive off the lot without getting lost :D

    I have a 2007 and I have the overhead console with temp/compass.

Not all trucks have this and things do change over the years. My access cab isn't even the same as the newer trucks are....

Unless you were given an old brochure... it's your responsibility to make sure you are getting exactly what you think you're paying for.

Oh I remember that fondly. My 13 was an Access Cab. My 14 is a Double Cab. The sound system is only marginally better, but at least it has two real speakers in the back instead of those stupid head liner things... I had a 1997 Lexus LS400 a couple years ago and the sound system in that thing was outstanding. My point being Toyota KNOWS how to build a system, so it would be nice if they at least made one an option in these trucks. I hate to compliment the Frontier, but it has a Rockford Fosgate system available from the factory that sounds GREAT.

^A thread already on the subject that some vehicles don't come with the dimmer mirror anymore.

They technically don't have to tell us. There is a notice somewhere that says, "features, options will change without notice". They do the samething when it comes to flyers for stores as well. Things could change after the brochures come out and the truck isn't finished. Not much we can do about it.

Over the years Toyota had removed the TPMS on the spare, mechanical LSD, the outside temp, & lessened the space in the door pockets. There could be more things they removed.

Beside this, when you buy a car-truck you have to look at it, and notice thinks, "preferably" before you buy.

I really don't know what to say about it....but i won't pay anything close to sticker price, if the vehicle doesn't have EVERY DAMN THING that the brochure says it is suposed to. Shame on toyota, to hell with them for trying to save money. They aren't letting us save any money when we still get less MPG than some full size trucks for just less than the price of a comparable full size.

Point being, auto dimming mirror, shitty sound systems, no compass, no out side temp, no batter volt meter, no oil pressure gauge, and a few other things that the trucks have lost over the years....shame on toyota. Reliabilty and resale value is what keeps me.

Don't get me wrong, i love my truck and i will keep it and make it what i want but toyota is going to take a hit in sales if they don't quit cheapening things.

Here i have expresed opinions, expressing opinions isn't a good idea on the internet anymlre because people will give you shit about it....so let the shitstorm ensue :stirthepot:

I hope the new colorado is fantastic and it helps spark a fire under toyota's ass and gets them to redesign the tacoma that has been practically the same since 2005....

If ford builds another ranger and dodge builds another dakota, toyota will have to do something.....you can't be on top for ever.

That's a lot of "ifs" but definitely agree with your point... Tacoma is competing w/ the Frontier and that's it. Little incentive to ramp up costs to compete when you're not fighting for market share.

Exactly... My 2013 DC sound system isn't even decent. Sucks actually. I'd gladly have paid another $400 for a decent sound system that's as integrated into the steering wheel and the dash like this one is.

That's what weak competition gets you.

Yes. They are slowly being bullied into becoming a shitty ass American car company.. just like all of this other plastic junk we have to research in order to avoid buying.

    My 2 cents is not a feature but a part in manual 2005 - 2010 2.7's...

The clutch used in all 1st Gen Taco's was an AISIN, Stock... The shitty mexican pot-metal trash my 2007 Tacoma was infected by was a clutch made by a company called LUK. which was a Mexican company with an american face........

SO when you go tho the STEALER.....to buy a Tacoma and they tack on all these bullshit fucking irrelevant features like A/C.........what modern vehicle has no AC? and "ABS" what the fuck....and CD PLAYER.....and other unbelievably extorted bullshit features...you have to ask? why the fuck does old technology cost so much?????

These capitalist dealer bastards importing Toyota's realized one day....that once the cost of the great (standard) quality of the Toyota product...became cheaper to import and was superb..and almost a hack for citizens for some time (when it comes to mechanically machined internal quality) which caught the eye of normal people...but then......they found out that.....That they could slowly start removing features and liberties that were once true and exclusively true Toyota quality products....instead of importing completed JDM quality vehicles...they started importing parts.....this is where they started to control the Toyota domestic market....

Bottom line is...the entire world of the rich does not give a fuck anymore about delivering a quality vehicle for even an extended price...

Their game is to remove and replace quality features with plastic chinese trash, that does an insane job of "looking like the original." While delivering 1/3 the lifespan and 1/2 the performance........ until it breaks....and then...they do not give a shit because "warranty expired."

Long story short....Toyota is slowly becoming infected. It is the capitalistic zombie plague of shit greed that is the disease. I am at a loss as to how to stop this God damn loss of ingenuity and practicality in America....We no longer engineer or maintain genius. Other than for certain entities....the rest of us are left to modify life as we see fit. If u got no COmpasSSS build one.... otherwise do not pay the dealer...
