I got a 11 DCSB TACO . When i was buying the truck i didnt notice that the rear veiw mirror has a LED screen that turns on when the truck is in reverse. no image comes on its a blue screen. it stays on for a few secs. . I went back to the dealer and asked why my reverse camara dose not work? they wanted to sell me a aftermarket upgrade.. fuck them!!
I was thinking that maybe some one stole the tailgate and that's why i don't have a image on my rearview! do i need to buy the camera and install on my tailgate and it will work?
looking for some input from this forum
    thanks

That does sound unusual to have the back up mirror without the camera? Does your truck have the camera on the tailgate next to the tailgate handle? If so then you'll have to check the connections. If not then you may be right about a replacement tailgate.
How many miles does it have? If it is over 36k I would say that you're probably out of luck getting the dealership to help you with it especially if they want to "sell" you a aftermarket camera. If you looked over the truck and signed all the paperwork the truck is yours.

Yes you can get a OEM camera and plug it in. It sounds as if your truck has the option just no camera or a loose connection. Hard to know without a little more information.

Hope you get it worked out.

Did you check there's a camera in the tailgate? Is it plugged in?

The tailgate dose not have a camera by the handle. and i installed a aftermarket handle with a key pop n lock (suck that the tailgate dose not come with a lock from Toyota another flaw on this truck next to the 1970s antenna wtf?)
would that be where the camera goes?
as far as the deal they all just want that signature and then ur on ur own after that...

Yep... that would be where the camera goes.

Out of curiosity... If the truck has so many flaws why did you buy it?
