aal is going to make it ride rougher. probably need to change out your rear shocks. my truck is long bed dblcab and my sons is a short bed dblcab, both have Toytec 3" with aal. his trucks is rougher riding than mine due to longer wheelbase. you could go with a taller tire with more sidewall give in Pmetric, no LT tires.

The blocks are probably part of it, but you also have larger rims and that could be contributing to the harsh ride too. Best bet would be to change out to some Bilsteins all around and switch the rear springs to some Deavers.

Probably need to upgrade your shocks but blocks have minimal effect on the ride quality besides possible axle wrap. What kind of coils are you running in the front? Some members here that run the ICON progressive 3 leaf raves about them. I think you will get a softer ride if you remove the factory TSB spring before installing the ICONS and still get 1.5-2" lift but I think the best ride quality for the rear would be a complete leaf pack replacement such as Deavers or All pros.

Between the 2 choices, I would go with the OP's choice of the ICON progressive leafs just for the softer ride quality.

Add a Leafs will make your ride rougher . Try just changing your struts first.

Factory tacoma leafs are normally pretty soft .

I had blocks on my 97 but couldn't stand them, i put Bilsteens in the rear and a add a leaf and it rides a lot better. I think the new rear shocks and Add A Leaf are in order

awesome, thanks guys!! In my mind it just seemss like adding blocks on the axle just couldnt be good for the truck in the long run.. Smaller rims are also an option.. The Enkei that are on it now came with it, and its too flashy for me. Im in the process of looking for some all black procomps.. But....they dont make them in 18s.... So id have to get some new tires too.. decisions decisions..

Can someone provide some feedback on the ICON progressive vs the standard single AAL?

I'm debating on which to go with and would like some feedback!

The regular AAL is only like $90 where the ICON's are $200. Is it worth it?

    Thanks,

    Jay

as another option, id looking into the wheelers 3 leaf progressive leaf that is $150 + shipping. I have that one and the ride isn't too bad, though ive never had a regular single AAL

+1 for the wheelers 3 leaf progressive AAL. Just installed it and really like it. Ride is just slightly stiffer than stock.

Did you remove the factory overload leafs? I'm looking for 1-1/2 to 2" of lift, slightly better load-carrying and I want it to ride slightly stiffer than stock. But I don't know whether I should keep or remove the factory overload springs.

I left the overload out since I won't be towing anything and only wanted about 1 1/2" of lift. I would leave it in if you plan to tow or haul anything. They also have the HD version, but I have no experience with it. Maybe give wheeler's a call and they can help a little more.

I don't tow anything and the most I haul is a couple dogs and some camping equipment. I just don't like how the stock springs bottom out over bumps even when I'm empty. I bet it will work perfect for me if I don't use the factory overload springs
