Greetings all - I'm the proud owner of a 2009 Tacoma sport with 17" stock wheels and I have a question about backspace and spacers.
The background: I had Bilstein 5100 adjustables installed on the front end - on the highest setting for 2.5" of lift apparently. At the same time we installed 285/70/17 Falken Wildpeaks with 1" spacers to stop the rub on the control arm. It's tight in my wheel wells but it works without rubbing on the control arm.
Now I'm in position to buy new wheels and my main goal is to eliminate the spacers. My son put the same brand spacers on his truck at the same time and he's had nothing but problems with breaking studs and a 40mph wobble which went away when he took them off. I've got a wobble at 60mph and I've had the tire guys try to rebalance the wheels twice so I think it's the spacers but I can't take them off without the rub so I'm stuck.
So my long-winded question is - does anyone know the stock backspace on this vehicle and what would be the best way to know if an advertised backspace of a new wheel would allow me to get rid of the spacers?
Thanks in advance!
