On either end of the tailgate, my truck has a gap at the top, going down about 1". Maybe you can get a coat hanger in there to unlatch the cover?

What kind of warranty does your tonneau have? If its a good warranty, I'd do the dishonest thing and bust/cut it open. You know, make it look like an accident.

TW might seem like a bunch of people who would be dishonest, but truthfully we aren't that way.

For example.. The thread with ASE tech, who instead of using the customers requested Armsoil oil, used the cheapo oil and pocketed the armsoil oil himself.
I'm out of here before this gets to nasty though. ..

If the latch parts can be replaced, drive a wedge under the top (only need 1/16" - 1/8") and reach in with a hacksaw blade, or sawsall and cut the bolt. A metal cutting blade on an oscilating flush cut tool may have enough reach. A body shop may have a cutting tool that will reach.

I have the same tonneau on my truck. I would give Extang a call. They may have had some experience with a similar situation.
    Good luck!

Had a similar thing happen to me. When I installed the Pop and Lock I forgot to put the rods back in place so the latch wouldn't work. I got my little brother to stick his tiny arm under the side of the cover and he was able to unlatch the cover. I'm sure you can do the same. The pull up on the side of the cover as much as you can to allow an arm to get through and unlock it. It's worth a try.

...Those Velcro strips will scratch your arm so be careful =).

Good call, I can't imagine this is the first time this has happened..or they may just give him the go-ahead to cut it? Doubt it but never know

If you put the metal plate back on the tailgate...sounds like your screwed TBO. There are 12 screws iirc and don't remember any space to slide a hanger. Unless I'm missing something here...I'm new to the truck scene so I could be wrong.

Sounds like this is going to be a pain...sounds like either way your gonna have to break something to get in.

Locksmith will not help, It's not locked. The mechanism/rod or whatever is not connected to the pop and lock so the tailgate can't be released.

Does your bed have the storage boxes in the sides? Can you possibly pop them out into the bed and then use those to reach up with a coat hanger type tool and pop the cover latches?

I'm going to go back to the idea of access through the bed side pockets.

If they were able to be removed from under the bed somehow, it might be possible to get something up in there to unlatch one corner of the bed cover...

I haven't looked at mine but it might be possible to slot the end of the bolts under the bed and turn them out from underneath.

This sucks.. I just repaired mine because i noticed it was not latching right.. i opened it up and fixed the tabs before it broke fully... Unfortunately i dont know what to do with this.. If a lock smith wouldnt be able to fix it for ya and the coat hanger doesnt and no reach from the pockets... Also does your bed have a small gap in the bottom where stuff like water can drain out.. i have one in the corner of my bed the driver side maybe get a coat hanger or something up in there.. If none of this works.... The less expensive thing i would think of doing would be drill your Poplock out. i know it sucks but better to destroy a poplock handle then destroy your cover, you should then be able to reach in and grab the metal wires to open the tailgate.. Good luck

He would have to unscrew all the screws first on the tailgate. I think it would be pretty hard if not impossible to do that through those storage boxes. I'm on the same idea that you would have to break your pop and lock.
