I know we have some members on here with both a GT86 and a Tacoma. We also have many aftermarket seat threads.

I'm wondering what the feasibility of swapping FRS seats into a Tacoma would be...is there any sort of "off the shelf" combination of brackets that could work or would it require fabrication?

After trying multiple searches with various parameters... bringing your question back to the forum.

Has anyone tried this? FR-S/BRS Seats in a 2nd Gen Tacoma?

Specifically looking for a lower seating position with more thigh support and hopefully more lumbar...

Yes. Idk about sensors and stuff for the SRS. Custom brackets can be made or bought and you can bolt them to any seat

Thanks TacoDeLaPlaya - I am fine on getting the brackets worked out. Hoping that someone can confirm the airbags are PNP or how they worked those out. Pics of actual installed FR-S seats in a Tacoma would be great too.

I doubt anyone has done it yet. They are expensive seats on a very new car. They will cost $1000+ at a wrecker if they can be found.

The good news is that I have a lead on a set of good FR-S seats for less than half that amount - and the color will work... the bad news is they are a half day drive to pick up... I've asked the seller for more pics including the airbag connections. will update with info as it comes.

Lol - no expectations on the when and seriously no need to take out the seats to get pics. Now if you are coin diving... Any info will be much appreciated!

I don't think it would be wise to swap these seating configurations. Believe me, I have worked at several dealerships across the States, and when really tall or really short people come in and want us to modify or change the seats, we tell them no. Several reasons, 1. safety, 2. liability, and of course safety, safety, safety.

These cars are designed to have all pieces fit according to strict government safety measures and guidelines. The seats hold a passenger at certain heights, the brackets are designed to hold or even fold if necessary during certain types of crashes. Once you start messing with the geometry, that can cause all sorts of injury etc.

There are certain places that do modifications for parapalegics etc. but they charge money, $$$ lots of money.

The airbags are also designed to move in certain areas on different cars, with different engineered amounts of room, as well as certain places to rest once they are deployed.

I would not do this on my own by thinking it can be swapped out safely.

    Sgt Knack,
You are absolutely correct - this is not a recommended thing to do. It can have unforseen consequences and if attempted, all risk and responsibilities fall to the party which installed incorrect equipment in their vehicle. With that warning to all, the purpose of my asking for information is just that - requests for information to determine if I am willing to do something that is potentially not safe, and is not an endorsement for anyone else to attempt the same thing.
