Got back from the shop today, my rack and pinion bushings are shot.
Problem is, both the dealer and les schwab have this listed as an "unserviceable" part, and want to replace the whole rack! At $506 just for the rack from les schwab, and $950 from the dealer, NO WAY.

So I've been hunting for a different solution.
A quick search found these, supposedly replacement bushings:
    http://www.jegs.com/i/Energy-Suspension/355/8-10106G/10002/-1?parentProductId=1183763

Has anybody used these, or something else? There's got to be another answer other than a whole new rack... and I'm tired of my truck tracking like crap.

Awesome, exactly what I was looking for, thank you.

Anyone have a link to the instructions? Is this a "driveway" repair?

Yes, driveway repair, but be prepared to get inventive getting it all apart and back together, the bolt on one side can be a biatch, other than that, EZpeazy...replace with poly bushings, much stiffer than the original rubber....

just installed some of these in my truck and i did it with the engine out (long story) and figured since engine out go ahead and do this. all i gotta say is holy fuck. i couldnt imagine doing this with the engine in the truck. gettin the old bushings out was a pain in the ass. once they were out, new ones went right in no problem

big deference in a 1st gen and a second gen. 1st gen easy, second not so much

basically we cut the head off the bushing from the top since the engin was out and knocked the shit out of it until they came out the bottom. u have a 4wd or prerunner? if prerunner it will be easier. with 4wd i think they say to drop the front diff out the way. altho with u having a 6" lift, not sure how much easier/harder that will make it

I have a 4wd... Not sure that I want to tackle this one in the driveway. I'll do some snooping under the truck in the day light tomorrow.
