Just for info purposes, I know most of you don't like chrome, and tubes of this type are useless for wheeling. However, I'm looking to put a set on my Black 2014 TRD AC 4x4 for on-road use. Does this OEM accessory fit tucked up nice and tight to the rockers? I'm looking for oval tubes that don't show too much of a gap ( if that makes any sense ). Still would like to keep as much ground clearance as possible. If there is a different Stainless brand you like better please let me know.

sadly, I've only put Husky Liners in it thus far - tend to blow all my cash on my bikes and guitars.
I'd try running a search on here for step tubes and running boards, or maybe surf other members builds for something you like and read what they've installed? I personally dont have any, but I'm hunting for some myself. Westins are popular and better priced than OEM unless you buy used

I went with the OEM running boards because they sit very close to the rockers. All tube steps I looked at had a gap of a few inches. It makes sense, since the purpose of the tube steps is to assist with entry/exit of the vehicle. A step at the same height as the rockers doesn't give much assistance. That's a common complaint of the running boards. But I liked the running boards because they didn't make a significant difference in clearance and they should help reduce door dings.

Most folks here will point you toward sliders. They can serve as steps but also protect the rockers if you off road.

I have the one's from Costco and I wish I had the OEM's. The Costco tubes have a great price but they don't look nearly as good as Toyota's. From what I've seen the Toyota tubes are oval in shape and they are fairly tight to the body and unlike the Costco brand, they are not polished stainless for that chrome look, they have a sort of dull aluminum like finish to them. Still look great IMO but they are expensive. Mount them yourself to save a few bucks, it's so easy that anyone could do it.

Yes that makes sense, I'm looking for the stone chip protection and really don't plan on stepping on them for entry purposes. The oems are 5" oval . Seems like a pretty wide tube, some of the F-250's come with 5" tubes.

The OEM chrome does fit tight but very expensive around 800 - 900 Canadian.

Keep searching on Craigslist. I see them there all the time. I picked up a brand new set last month for $200. The guy had the dealer take them off before he took delivery of his 2014. I can get you a picture today if you want. My truck is a 2011 TRD Sport 4x4 black.
