PreRunner in Winter?

Hey,

So I just got informed I may be being relocated to upstate New York. The only thing is I'm a bit concerned about the prerunners performance in heavy winter conditions. I have the locker on the back but I'm still have some doubts, that maybe I should try and sell the prerunner and find a used 4x4. I know the 4x4 will do better but how well will the 4x2 do? Anything I can do to increase performance during the winter months? BTW I do know how to drive well in shitty conditions in rear wheel drive car but our Tacos have a very light back end. Any help/feedback would be great thanks guys =)

Put a good set of winter tires on, and put some weight in the back i.e. sand bags. I drove a 2 wheel drive Ford Ranger through a couple winters here in Alberta with no problems. I'm sure a Taco can hadle it.

I'm sure you can handle it but its always nice to have an actual reason/excuse to get the 4x4. My vote would be for the 4x4 but thats just me. I'm sure you'll be fine with the 4x2 if you get good tires, drop some pounds in the back and drive slow
