    Nice lookin car!
My cousin barely even drives his anymore. He's got 2 little ones and his wife wants him to get rid of it.
I would prefer less automation, too. It took me a bit to get used to his tiptronic transmission. I like to control my shifts and not have a computer think for me. I kept wanting to slam my left foot into a clutch.

I may have missed it in the thread, but what's 1/4 mile of a 2013 tacoma ?

Anyone know what the 2013 tundra 1/4 is ?

Not that I plan on racing , but my buddies 5.7 tundra is moves pretty good . But I feel as if the tacoma has some pickup aswell without making as much noise

    That is a loaded question!

The first poster asked "your" Tacoma. He didn't say all Tacomas in general.

Many on this forum have spend countless $$$and time to improve the performace of their Tacomas. No need to get into that, there are many modifications that can be done. So, "your" Tacoma, may indeed be much quicker/faster than a stock one.

I have owned a lot of vehicles, and drive many different vehicles; I still deal in used cars, so I see them all.

The 2nd generation Tacoma, in my opinion, is a good mix of economy, power, drive ability.

I suppose if that was your first vehicle/pick-up; you could argue it was fast. To that, I say, maybe you can take a test drive, in a few other pick-ups.

The first poster did compare to an older V-6 Ford; I understand that.

Completely different vehicle, the Tundra 5.7, and I won't compare the the Tacoma; but that truck really has some muscle.

Compared to my 3.4 1st Gen? Hell yes.
Compared to my uncle's Charger? Hell no.

But my 2nd gen is plenty fast for me.

Coming from a 400awhp Evo 10 and before that a 580whp RX7, no, the Taco is slower than balls. It's fast enough though, I rarely even boosted the Evo after a couple years of driving it so there wasn't much of a change. I just wish the Taco handled like it...

So there was this Dodge Ram V8 and an open and clear stretch of road and my V6 Taco.

Now I am not going to say that we broke the speed limit or anything but the Taco held its own up to the legal limit of the law.;)

I agree, though, that it's all relative. Most of us didn't buy a Tacoma because they were fast. I added the S/C because I was unhappy with my performance after I put the 33's on...particularly while towing. With the stock-sized tires, it was "adequate". Much better now...

Coming from a 98 sierra 5.0, my taco feels pretty quick to me. It won't beat my buddies mazdaspeed or wrx, but I did beat an f150 raptor by half a trucklength off the line on my way to work last week :)

Not so sure about wanting to wind out your gears. You stop making power at some point. If you're winding out your gears, you pass this point and actually slowing yourself down versus changing when you should, getting into that next gear quickly, and keep on moving. That's why a lot of sports cars are now switching to dual clutch autos versus manuals. A computer knows where/when the best shift point is and can shift way faster than a person can. Just my two cents.

Back to the main topic, my 2nd gen is way faster than I expected it to be. Plenty of get up and go. Is it the fastest thing out, no. It's a truck. It doesn't need to be fast. It's fun to play with, but I'm not out racing it. I'd love to try the 6spd though just for fun, but my auto is plenty of fast as it is.

Ok I am running 12.7 in the Quarter mile and 8.3 in the 1/8 drag strips. I beat cars period. I get 22 miles to the galleon when I drive at 40mph on my country roads so gas mileage is not an issue. The truck has power and its light which makes it pretty fast.
Mine is a 2013 I went from a 2007 to a 2013 with an amazing 23 horsepower difference probably from years of the engine running. As apposed to a newer engine.

I am plenty satisfied with how fast my Tacoma is ... that being said it is a truck and I didn't buy for its racing ability. I was pleasantly surprised with its acceleration when you really put your foot into it, but it won't break any land speed records. The best and most recent comparison I can make is to my 2000 Dodge Dakota and the Tacoma would run circles around the Dakota without breaking a sweat.
