How fast do you think your truck is? Especially for you v6 owners. I have a 2010 TRD sport with a 6spd manaul and the only engine/performance mod i have is Aero exhaust and i have to say, for being a truck, the v6 isnt a slouch. I used to have a 05' Sport that was an automatic and it was so-so on acceleration, but i feel that the one i have now is way more responsive. Maybe its in my head, but my work/company truck is a 1999 Ford f150 2wd with a v6, 5spd, flowmasters, and my tacoma will flat out blow its doors off. I know most of us dont buy tacomas for speed, otherwise we would buy fast cars or crotch rockets, but how do others feel about the v6 pep??

^^You have a third gen?? Pretty sure they haven't come out with third gens yet...

I have a 01, I know you posted this in the 2nd forum, but I got the v6, and it is a bit slow.. Scares me a bit getting on the Interstate sometimes.

When I run a 13.5, I will stop modifying it. Well at least that is the plan right now.

3rd gen.....not quite. You do have a smaller v6 engine though. From what i've heard from others is the 1st gens are "more of a truck" but have kinda a weak engine. I dunno, guess its all preference.

    Bone stock for now....
Mine gets out of its own way. Haven't ruled out a supercharger though.

Need to determine if the S/C noise is loud enough for my wife to question it. Lol

its all about how you put your foot to the floor. I personally don't care about my mpgs so if I need to get up to speed or get around somebody I slam the accelerator through the floorboard and make that little 3.4 scream like the little slut she is! and it works too. gets me where I need to be

Ive also contemplated a supercharger.... but I don't think I could afford the upfront cost + more gas + speeding tickets + higher insurance + constantly needing new tires! lol Ill just leave it be for now

I am very impressed with my v6 6-speed. Its got plenty of power! I used to have a 1990 toyota pickup with the 3.0 v6 (3.slow) That thing was gutless! My mother has a 2009 jeep wrangler two door with the 3.6 v6 6-speed, which was a rocket compared to my old truck, compared to my new truck though, even the jeep feels gutless.

    Absolutely not.

The auto has some get up and go in stock form though. It's no dog.

does turning tires to black wall out count? How bout added snug top rebel.
Mines fast enough, but if I needed more it's nice to know that Toyota has the supercharger as an available option.

    Owning both, I believe it.

Automatic transmissions up shift in less than a second. Depending on torque signal, that thing will up shift in less than .7 of a second. Good luck doing that with the 6 speed. Auto will pretty much always be quicker than you are.

I have an 06 TRD OR AC 6 speed, with DTLTs, a 3" lift with 285s, and 160k miles. I think it has decent acceleration and power. I recently test drove a new 2013 TRD OR DCSB automatic, and it felt weak to me. I don't know if the autos are tuned differently, or if it is the DTLTs on my 06, or if it is just in my head.
