what controls the window motor? the switch?

    i have a 06 taco dblcab. what controls the window motors auto up and down? switch or the window motor? if i replace my "auto up" only switch with a "auto up and down" switch will it work? or is it in the wireing? i have done a search but with the rain the downloading sux.
