I didn't want to derail or trash anyone else's thread, but I wanted to ask this question here.

Do door sill protectors trap salt/moisture and increase risk of rust?

I'm asking because I showed a buddy of mine some sill protectors I was looking at and he said he'd never add them due to rust issues. I've never heard that before and was curious if this is an issue. I do live in the NE right now and they do salt heavily here, so I can imagine it may happen, but I've never heard of it before. Thoughts?

I've seen trucks rusting under the bed top covers.

I say just apply a nice film of fluid film under them unless they are adhesive then they won't work

This happens on older Tacoma's. I haven't heard anything here about it happening to the 2nd Gen's. But I wouldn't be surprised if we have this problem further down the road. We all know how Toyota when it comes to rust. *Cough*
