Is there anything specific I should do to break in the 4.0 engine and trans? I plan to engage 4wd monthly like I have done for my 07 4Runner (off-road only). Is there anything else I should do? I plan to 'christen' it with my wife, or a good friend of hers.... JK :)

Dealer let me order it without floor mats, and then threw in a free set of all weather Tacoma mats (for sale). Weathertechs are superior. Had a great experience buying it, local dealer could not come close to the deal I got. Worth it for 5 hours out of a Saturday and they included a free lifetime engine/powertrain warranty for as long as I own it.

Trimmed mudflaps, plasti-dipped badges and front emblem, weathertech floormats, stubby antenna, extang trifecta tonneau.
Nobody can explain this better than your owners manual!

I didnt do anything special when I broke in my truck. I took it easy on the throttle of course and didnt drive like a teenager. I also changed the oil a couple hundred miles after I got it since I heard if breaking in new it can leave tiny metal shavings from all the new engine metals.

I have driven every vehicle that I have ever bought new just as normal. I don't speed or drive crazy... Just normal type driving. Never had any issues. I also don't change my oil until 5000 miles at which time I switch to Mobil One full Syn. Yeah... I bought into the hype. Don't really know if it is any better than good quality dino oil but I have never had any issues with it and for less than $30 at WalMart it is worth it to me.

Check your owners manual for all scheduled maintenance. I also rotate my tires (not factory) every 5000 miles too. Gratz on the new truck!

Why not your wife and her friend? ;)

    Also welcome!

There is no break in period for the 1GR. Just don't tow for the first 1k miles or so to not warp the rotors.
