Did you ever figure this out? I am planning on installing a mirror tomorrow in my 14 TRD OR. I will take some photos of the plug (I assume you are talking about the factory plug on the Tacoma).

Let me know if you still need them posted.

If you got the kit, it has a Toyota compatible plug included and the wire harness plug is in the headliner. You just plug the female end into the male end and are done- no figuring out what wire goes where. Not sure what gravedgr is doing.

I was confused - I was mixing up the factory Toyota plug with the wiring harness plug that is supplied with the mirror. Bob is going to swap my mirror (and the wiring harness which is where the wire pulled loose) with another model, because on mine the plug location on the mirror is much higher than the mirror itself and does not fit with the ImMrYo extended mirror mount bracket.

That's odd. I have the ImMrYo bracket and I have a 2014 Sport DCSB. I'm happy to take photos if you'd like. I didn't have any issues other than with the stupid Temperature sensor and the secondary small cooler being in the way of things. Ughhh..that was a bitch and a half.

For those with the Tow Package you may find it easier to get a screw from HomeDepot and a nut and use that instead if you have that stupid little secondary cooler in the way of the post you're using to put the new temperature probe on. I ended up having to take off the cooler so that I could get in there to tighten the bolt then put it back on. :) Had to use a socket and a wrench to hold the screw as I tightened the nut.

Mine did not have the temp sensor. My understanding is some mirrors have the plug built into the mirror or very close - my plug was +/- 2" above the mirror mount, and would not fit when mounted on ImMrYo's bracket.

Thanks for the guide! I installed a CIPA 36400 rear view mirror this week and your posts were a big help.

Weathertech digifit floor liners, Devil Horns by Andres, Pop & Lock Tailgate Lock, TRD bedside decals removed, ImMrYo Mirror Lift Bracket, Gentex K51A mirror from Bob (RJP869).

Install went great, I took my time and was done in about an hour. I also installed the ImMrYo mirror lift backet, it is nice to have the mirror raised and blind spot gone. The part that took the most time was trying to figure out where I wanted to mount the temp sensor. I have the tow package and have a transmission cooler mounted where the OP mounted his temp probe.

I PM'd Bob (TW User: RJP869) and asked a few questions and ordered the Auto-Dim, Homelink, temp, compass mirror from him. Had it in 2 days with the wire harness set up to plug into Tacoma, and temp probe with wiring. Great guy to deal with. I purchased a new mirror and it was $299 (he also has used mirrors in good condition for less).

Here is a link to what he has:
    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2n...ink-other-rearview-mirrors-09-14-tacomas.html

I also purchased the auto-dim, Homelink, compass mirror for my wife's 2013 Camry for a Mother's day gift from Bob. I got the one with the backlit buttons, it is nice at night. The backlit button one does not have the temp option. Since there was no temp probe to run wires for it just plugged into a plug up in the headliner (about a 10 minute job).

Probably a dumb question, but does this mirror stay on all the time?

I am wanting to utilize the 14 pin plug, (shown in Part 3 of the first page of this thread) for hard-wiring a dash camera, rather than the mirror, but I just checked it and it has 12V power even when the ignition is off. I wouldn't want the thing to be running all the time, even if it uses very little power.

I thought it would be really nice if I could use the already available plug right where I would put the cam anyway.

Temp/Compass goes off with the key switch. The Homelink is operable when the key is off so I expect there are two power wires in that harness.

Nothing major planned, this is my daily driver. - replaced stock tires with Cooper AT3s - added Husky WeatherBeater floor mats - installed Access Original bed cover - installed Gentex 453 mirror and the included external temp sensor, also has Homelink and auto-dim - installed ImMrYo mirror bracket - hose clamp mod and washer mod to secure tailgate, with a GateKeeper lock installed over the hose clamp - replaced stock reverse lights with Philips Halogen 30w from Home Depot GY6.35 base
John1701, I think the previous poster is correct. I am pretty sure there are both a constant-on 12v wire, and a switched-on 12v wire (on via ignition key).

The display on the mirror does not stay on all the time.
The garage-opener button works even with the ttruck complelely off (no key inserted).

so, I think you can do your camera install if you have a voltmeter and can determine which 12v wire is switched.

I pulled the trigger and ordered mine from Bob! Received my email that I'll be getting it in 1-3 days. Hopefully before the weekend so I can take care of business then!

Great writeup OP! I will add a few pix of an alternate mounting location since I have the tow package and oil cooler. Hopefully I won't need to be unbolting that thing... :)

Any pix requests before I take the plunge in the next few days?

Editing this post- after seeing another post later in this thread I moved my sensor up to a different location near the factory sensor using another pre-existing hole. I didn't need to drill or take anything apart under the hood.

    20141005_074654_zps187wtc9k_e1896ee8761d414ce32883a1d97d9997db5af087.jpg

I originally mounted it like in the pic below but it was behind the bumper and under the bracket. The sensor would give really high temp readings when idling in traffic and I would not recommend mounting like below.

I just mounted it here on my OR w/ tow pkg. Put a piece of closed cell foam behind the mount for vibration control and used an industrial tie wrap- done.
