Without getting too into details, my truck ended up sitting in water up to the headlights about a week ago with water inside the cab up to the bench seats.

When we got it out it didn't want to start. After blowing out the throttle position sensor, it fired up and I drove it about 30 minutes and everything was working fine with no lights on on the dash then it just died. I pulled into a parking lot and it hasn't started since. It's not getting fuel and is getting spark. I replaced the throttle position sensor and the fuel pump with a URD pump I had already ordered and no change. It just cranks over like normal and won't start. The check engine light still hasn't come on.

    Any ideas?

I did take apart all the connections everywhere imaginable and let everything dry out.

I would start by replacing the spark plugs and all fluids: oil, trans, differentials.

Start with the easiest thing first. Did the fuel pump cutoff relay get wet?

    No fuel or spark?

That could be a crankshaft position sensor.

With water damage that bad, I wouldve called the insurance company that same day.

I don't believe so. Checked all the relays and they're working fine.

I thought about that, but it ran fine so I figured it would recover

How high was the water inside? The reason I ask is if water was up to the headlights in mine, there would be a whole lot of electrical inside cab that could be affected...

Check for fuel pressure and spark, then go from there....

Water inside can wreak havoc, even after fixed and running...

The nose was lower than the rear, but water was still up to the bottom on the dash plastics. I know I'm getting spark and no fuel to the rail. The pump is good, just not getting power

you probably already have checked it, but there is a secondary fuse box lower left, might be in a different spot since you have an '09 (center console area?)....and, if it was sitting for awhile, that creepy condensation could have started electrical corrosion of who knows what....I expect you put some kind of portable heater inside for a day or three to really dry things up, yes?

IIRC, the fuel pump cutoff relay is behind the passenger side kick panel.

Did you check all the fuses? Everything being wet things are bound to short out.

I would call insurance and let them total it before you go messing with everything. Could end up being a very expensive mistake.

That is given it was on road and insurance will cover it...

Without insurance, you will continue to have problems with it...I'm assuming that all the fuses under the hood sat in water...all the fuses under the dash were in water...and I'm sure half of them will either be shorted already or will corrode in a matter of time.

Possibly the best idea here. Truck will never be the same. It's hard to imagine how many spaces water will get into, and sit. But it's disgusting. In time, random things will quit, and you'll wish you had gone through insurance.

Don't touch it. Don't try to repair, step back 20 feet and call insurance. Seen this many times and playing with it can cause more damage, according to insurance, resulting in denied claims. Let the insurance run its course. If they total it, get it back and screw with it after....
