I am in eastern Dutchess Co near Pawling. At 5 am this morning it was 60. The temp dropped to 48 as of 9:45 am. Supposed to go to the 30's by this afternoon. Goodbye spring hello winter!

That was 6:15 am on Bolton Flats. South of Waterbury seemed fine.

I went to college up there, they get some pretty serious ice in that neck of the woods. My dad's side of the family lives in Plattsburg, I'm actually heading there in a couple days.

Im close to saranac lake and to my surprise we didn't get it as bad here as others all around us. All the ice has since melted and its now 35 out with rain. Had to go to plattsburgh for my yearly last minute shopping yesterday and took my chainsaw just in case. I was surprised how much worse it was as I left the mountains... Usually just the opposite

No studs, we'll be making the trip in a 4wd Tahoe. We're not going until Thursday so hopefully the roads will be better by then. If it's still nasty, we'll just stay home.

In my younger years I worked out of the Post Office in POK and drove a collection route on Sundays that included the Pawling post office. I grew up with the Cappillino family before they moved to Pawling.

Haven't been in POK in years but read the Journal.

Hope your weather turns more seasonal.

I was in LP on Saturday and it was pouring rain and pretty much lost all the snow. Much much different than the weather in Malone and only an hour difference.

Do your BFG ATs work well in this weather? I've just been using winterforce tires, that are cheap and work well.

I bought them with about 55%-60% tread left. They seem to be working well. I'd like to try something else next time though. I have no idea what to go with I love the 275/70/17 but limited on tires... I might look at some 255/75/17 which would be better on the ice. Idk I've already started researching becUse I will need some before next winter haha.

They Float a bit on the slush but I imagine that might have to do with the tread wear. I wish they would make a duratrac in a 265/75/17

Well today I hammered the crap out of my tonneau to get the ice off it.
I decided I needed to do this to prevent flying projectiles.
Yesterday a sheet of ice as large as my DC's roof let loose sliding down covering my entire windshield while I was driving
Gotta say that Extang Trifecta soft trifold took it like a champ! There was absolutely no way to fold it or break it apart other than hammering it.

Everything is frozen up solid now at temps close to zero, below zero with wind chill. Wind is not going to help more trees & lines will snap.

Lee Rd. Near Titus Mt. It's a snowmobile secondary trail in the winter but a nice little snowshoe hike that goes up on top of the hills you could see in the previous post. There is a trail off of the road about 1/2-3/4 mile in where I hike up. The road continues out to St Rt 30 and comes out near Elephant head and is a limited access highway. I don't think it's passable even in summer. I've seen two different small groups of people there and that's it. Pretty cool spot. Nice to take the Tacoma back there off-road in the winter but not one :(

not looking to take the Tacoma off roading but for a place to hike or snowshoe with the wife and kids. we went on a trail earlier this week before any new snow fell after the warm up/ice storm. the trail was solid ice and it was a pain. lot of good trails in the area but a good handful of them turn into snowmobile trails this time of year

Yeah, that's about as off-road as I get. I just like to drive in deep snow haha Go hit some of the high peak trails and just stop early. Tons of great small hikes around me. Perfect for the kids. Owls head, elephants head, that trail on the. Lee Rd. Debar, some trails in Mt View and Duane all only 40 min maybe from you.

Just saw this. There is still a lot of ice built up around here. Stay warm!
