they really need a 4.7v8 option in this truck just cause that's what I want. I'd be at the dealer so fast.

If nothing is wrong with the one you have I would keep it.
I traded in a 1998 F-150 for my new Tacoma, the F-150 had over 200,000 miles on it and was still in good shape.
With only 99,000 miles your Tacoma should last you many years.

    Agreed!

Who really wants to keep making payments month after month.

I got a "buy back" letter a couple of weeks ago. I'm happy with my truck. I got 12 years with my last truck, and I hope to get the same from this one.

I'm keeping my '04 til the wheels fall off...or the frame rusts and it's no longer safe. but hey I have the Toyota warranty for 8 more years on it :)

If I had to get a newer one I'd get a DCSB 2011 Sport (don't like the '12+) with low miles (hard find probably). Unless the new style it out with a diesel or better style/less mechanical probs :p

You couldn't pry my '06 out from underneath me. It's been a trouble free runner for 91K+ miles. Has everything I need in a truck! Best feature of all... it's paid for. That seems to be a reoccurring theme here:rolleyes:

Well I went from an 05 TRD off road to a new 14 TRD sport and I am very disappointed with Toyota now. They radio in my old truck was the basic radio and it is a whole lot better that the one in the new truck. I got Entune Premium with Nav. The HD radio suck, there is no strong HD service in my area so the FM radio keeps going in and out. What is with not giving an outside temp sensor in the truck, living in the snow belt it would be nice to know when the temp gets close to freezing. I went out and installed an auto dim mirror to fix that. Then since when did they stop locking the doors in the truck when you put it in drive. My old one always locked the doors in drive and unlocked in park. Another safety feature Toyota skimped out on. You pay over 30K for a truck and you expect the basic stuff in it.

I traded in my '01 Tacoma for a '14 double cab. I love the HD radio but I also live in Atlanta. Sorry to hear it's not what you were hoping for. I do wish though it automatically locked and had a temp sensor though. That would be nice.

I had a gen 1 TRD Double Cab. I got a 13 TRD Sport. I agree. TThe stereo sucks. Drive line vibrations. Vibrations at idle. Crappy MPG. For the money (10k more) than my Gen 1. I realize the new one has more tech, but I have been under whelmed with this truck and have considered selling or trading in.

Talking crappy MPG, I forgot about that, I use to get 21mpg on the highway now I only am getting 16-18 mpg if I am lucky.

Where are you guys going to identify the location your trucks are built?

To OP, if it ain't broke don't fix it. I'd keep driving it until you can't do anything to keep it on the road anymore. To me it doesn't matter what 1st gen tacoma I looked at, the asking price was around the range of a a 2nd gen. That really tells me our tacomas hold value well. Be debt free and use that money elsewhere. I'm sure you can purchase the seats and install them because it doesn't look like the interior changed much.

I'm glad I got a '14. Being a geek I love being on the bleeding edge of technology but after doing that with a 2005.5 Audi A4 and having a lot of electronic extras and sensors go out I really really appreciate the simplicity of the Tacoma. It's a mature platform with the bugs WELL documented by the community and/or solved by Toyota. Not to mention there's a lot of guides within the community for servicing the truck so it makes doing maintenance easier.

Sure a new version is coming out in a year or two most likely but I wouldn't buy one in the first year of production and I didn't want to wait 2.5+ years to get another vehicle when I got my '14 last November.

It also surprised me how much the interior has changed through the model years.

If you want to be on the bleeding edge of tech then wait for the new platform. If you want to buy into a platform at the height of it's refinement I'd get a '14.
