How do these issues effect the TRD only? wouldn't the issues be across the board on all Tacoma's?

My radio shut off all by itself two days ago. It came right back on but had to restart the home screen etc.

I've also had a bit of creaking/squeaking between the dash and center console radio area.

Other than that no issues in my 10k miles so far.

So far on my 2013 I've had it in three times for front side door seal noise that they haven't done anything with and refuse to fix since they claim I'm the first person who's ever had a complaint for that, even though their own website has hundreds of people with this same complaint.

I also have the driveline vibe on accel, hopefully to be fixed this week with the TSB.

I bought a 2013 new off the showroom floor. I have had none of the issues you put in the op thread. I have even lifted it and still have not had any problems.

What TSB are you talking about. Are you saying there's a fix for driveline issue or just throwing words out there

I have also had a little creaking between the dash and the windshield defrost area, especially when it's cold.

Yes there is a service bulletin, I believe listed above. It fixed mine. Just be prepared for several trips to the dealer--they have to install parts, measure angles then install more parts. There is a specific thread about it around here somewhere..

Those of you who have listed the pinging as an issue, have you found a solution? Although mine is a 12' it is pinging like crazy and I'm running shell 93, its pretty annoying that a newer truck does this.

Has anyone noticed that the OP has not posted on this thread since 12/29/13, three days after he started it on 12/26/13? I don't think he's interested any more. I don't know if he ever purchased a Tacoma...

I have a 2014 TRD off road and just learned that there is TSB-0008-14 for it. I noticed a "shudder" when taking off from stop at full throttle. Other than that no issues so far.

    None atm.
I have had my 2014 for about a month now. I have a ranch and take it up and down the rough roads and not a rattle yet. No electrical issues so far either. No driveline vibs to speak of. Great truck so far!

Back. Sorry that took so long.

Thanks to all that have posted - I've read every post. I never clarified in my OP, but my Tacoma has had the following issues:

    2011 SR5 4x4 2.7L Manual Trans

Heater Fan Ticking - Fan replaced - Fixed under warranty [Resolved]
Clutch Slipping - Clutch / Clutch Assembly replaced under warranty [Resolved]
Clutch Pedal Squeaking - Not Resolved - Out of Warranty
Radio coming on & going off by itself - Not Resolved - Out of Warranty

The reason this thread is asking about TRD's is because that is what I was in the market for. Everyone is welcome to report the status of their truck & please do.

Since my OP, I have paid off my Tacoma. I am still looking into getting a TRD or a Baja. As it seems time may run out on my chance for a Baja as I believe they are being replaced in 2015 with the PRO.

When the 2016 is unveiled in early - mid 2015 [wishful but confident thinking], I'm hoping I don't have my hand forced into buying a 2015 because the new 2016's are hideous.

I had a 2006 TRD Off Road, owned it for 175,000 miles with no major issues. Traded it for a 2013 TRD Sport, its sitting in my driveway as we speak with 6900 miles as I wait for a phone call this week to bring it to the dealer to pick up my new 2014, my 2013 is being taken back under lemon law.

My 2013 has a weird engine noise when it was below 55 degrees, long story short they put a short block in it and now it makes that noise at 75 and below and even louder.

Regrets... no, not really, Toyota is taking care of me. Do I miss the locker, yes, the E-locker kinda sucks, but that is only an issue a few days a year for me. Do I like the Sport model, yep, rides better, tows better, the 6' bed is something that I missed ever since I bought my 2006, and this one has a cool hood scoop (LOL).

Other issues with my 2013.... I hated the micro-sized backup camera screen in the mirror so I modded it into the radio, wind noise so I modded the hood rubber strip with 1/4" plastic tubing, added doorstep protectors and console divider net that used to be stock in 2006.

I have a 2010, great truck. I did replace the radio under warranty and the frame does rust. I touch my up so it's just surface rust for now.... I don't have the other problems.. but I would say weak suspension. But we all fix that at some point...

I have a 13 DCSB TRD 4X4, and it has had two of the known issues: Drivetrain vibration, and door window creaking noise.

Toyota has been totally impossible to work with on the drivetrain vibration issue, they are unwilling to acknowledge it despite the fact that 2 master technicians at two separate dealerships both felt it and noted it in writing on my service slip.

Aslo, in addition to being totally underpowered, and having a cheap dashboard setup (same heater controls as the 1985 Camry my family had), it's generally built cheap. There are a number of areas I can point to that I'm totally disappointed with, but I won't rant on here.

For my money, the upcoming Chevy/GMC midsize truck with the turbo diesel would be worth waiting for.

On that note, I'll make you a good deal on my 13. :)

2014 trd off road here, no problems at all at 4k. Good to now the only things to be weary of are the clutch squeaking, a driveline vibe at 40mph and a few other minor things though.
