Yeah even at full lock. I'm sure if I actually wheeled this truck it would be a much different scenario. But it's just a work truck, going to be a couple years before this thing gets wheeled.

tires and UCAs have nothing to do with each other. UCAs are for alignment. Wheels or wheel spacers will prevent the majority of the rubbing.

Maybe getting all the info piecemeal like this is getting you confused so I'll do my best to clarify with my little knowledge.

The purpose of changing the stock UCA's to aftermarket is for two reasons:
    • Improve travel characteristics with your aftermarket suspension
    • Allow for more accurate alignment with your aftermarket suspension

A side effect of getting new aftermarket UCA's is that they often take up much less space at the ball joint than the stock one so when you're running a wider tire like a 285, changing out the UCA may also minimize the risk of the tire rubbing the UCA. But it is not imperative to change the UCA's just because your running 285's.

A cheaper way would be to get wheel spacers instead.

With that said, I believe that you'd NEED to have at least a little lift in order to run 285's at all...In which case it would be worthwhile to also do the UCA's for the above stated reasons.

I'm running 285/75R16s on 16x8s, 0 offset, 4.5" backspacing with no rubbing even off road. No trimming either. I just removed the mud flap and the trim piece in the front of the wheelewell. 3" Toytec spacer lift.

If you are wheeling a lot you will need to chop the cab mounts otherwise you will rub. If you are mostly street with little off road then you may get away with not doing the CMC. It's honestly not that big of a deal and nobody even sees it. In fact it looks perfectly stealth when it's done if it's done nicely and welded nicely.
