I'm looking at the Viper remote start one way systems. Anyone have a number for this system? How about a system so I don't have to leave a "dead" key near the ignition so it will start.

They have a bypass module that makes it so you don't have to leave a key or anything... I had a viper 5101 installed in an Avalanche once upon a time. Worked well.

I had the Viper 2-way 5301 model. I'm looking at the receipt right now and paid 395.07 for it at Best Buy. For the price it was a great purchase.

As mentioned if you go with a Viper or most any other system with a chipped key you can install a bypass so no key is required to be left near the truck.

I started out wanting just a one way remote start when I bought my truck a few months ago. Ended up with a Viper 5706 remote 2 way and alarm system including the Smart Start for Android phone. I don't live in a high risk crime area by any stretch of the imagination LOL. But would do it over again in a heartbeat if I had a choice. Only have had it for a month now, it was -14 F this morning when I took the dog to the Vet and didn't even bother putting gloves on. It has started my truck every time so far although when deep inside a building I sometimes have to use the phone to start it. In a few days the low is -25 to -30 with a high of -15 and that will be the real test. I'll break out the gloves no matter what by then, I'm getting too old for that much cold. If you can swing it I would highly recommend it.

I bought my 4303 from Best Buy installed with bypass for $408.00 at Folsom, CA. store. Got lucky and got a good installer that did a really clean job. Works perfect just like my last Viper and the fob is good too. It's the lowest model, no security system, just start/lock/unlock/accessory. The range isn't as good as my last one but its adequate at about 500' line of sight. Be prepared for your MPG to drop, as you idle your truck longer to heat or cool it.

All I'm looking for is a basic remote start, don't need all the fancy stuff

Installation isn't an issue either, I can do that

Does the bypass come with the system? Or do you have to buy it separate?

I have the 5901. I got the dead key because I simply didn't trust the bestbuy guys to tap into my ECU.

Starts 75% of the time. Sometimes it won't crank enough.

I have the same problem, it tries over and over but just wont start after. I have to give it a minute before trying it again manually. Weird.

I've heard the crank time is adjustable by the installer. Mine starts better in the winter than the summer. Even more weird.

I have a Viper one-way remote start on my 2014 Double Cab 4x4. Model 4105VB. It was $150 from Best Buy. And at first they tried to hook it up with the bypass module that requires a dead key. It wouldn't start. So...they hooked it up with the next level up bypass module that Doesn't require a dead key, and it works fine. I believe it was $60 bucks for the bypass module. It's a good system, has a 500 ft. range.

I'm in the market as well. Looking for something that will start, unlock, and roll down the windows (I'm more concerned with hot weather than cold). Probably going to look for rolling down the fronts only, if that's an option.
